Bodybuilding For Beginners The Basics

Around two weeks ago I was at my local gym and I noticed a young lad walking around, watching what people were doing, but not really doing anything himselfe. He looked scared to actually get on any of the machines and get sweaty. I asked him what was wrong and it soon became apparrent that as this was his first day in a gym and although he had done his induction he didn't have a clue how to get started.

Bodybuilding for beginners especially, can be quite a daunting task. I remember the first time I walked into a gym and nearly ran straight back out again when I looked round at some of the giants walking around strutting their stuff. I thought as soon as I picked up a dumbell everyone was going to start laughing at me and there wasn't a thing I could do about it. I did pick up that dumbbell and straight away i pulled a muscle. One of the giants who'd seen what i'd just done came over (without laughing)and advised me that next time i should try warming up first.

Over the next few weeks I discovered that the gym wasn't such an intimidating place after all and that everyone was there for exactly the same reason. If someone could help they were more than happy to offer some advice on one training technique or some helpfull hints. They didn't care that i was a skinny little beginner because at least I was there trying and busting a gut.

Anyway the first piece of advice for this young lad before he went anywhere near the weights was to get on the exercise bike for ten minutes and work up a sweat. He looked at me like I was stupid beacause at the end of the day he was after some serious muscle growth. He did what I said and then followed it up with 10mins stretching. Now he could start bodybuilding.

After he'd finished the very basic training programme I had given him he looked a lot more confident as he walked around the gym. I also advised him on some of the do's and don't's about weight lifting nutrition first of all don't walk out of the gym and straight into the nearest burger bar.The best thing he could do is buy a carton of milk on the way home and then make scrambled eggs on brown toast when he got home. Also that when he woke up in the morning he was going to have some serious aches and pains but they would be gone in a couple of days and then he could do it all again. Well I havn't seen him in the gym since so I can only imagine he decided it wasn't for him.
