How can skinny people build muscle? Human body types are different and some people have body types that are characterized by a very fast metabolism and low fat storage and muscle building capability. If you have such body type, you might be looking for ways to gain weight, ideally in the form of muscle mass. Maybe you’ve tried working out and eating more in order to gain weight. Maybe you’ve messed around with multiple different exercises, consulted with different people, or tried different nutrition regimen without weight gain success. Maybe you’ve given up on trying to gain weight, or maybe you never started trying to begin with. You still have a chance if you follow the right training and nutrition program, but the beginning of the solution begins with your attitude.
Attitude is most important in helping you succeed in anything. How can skinny people build muscle? Certainly not two- or three-hour workouts or hitting the gym six or seven days a week, but building muscle is no simple matter either. You still need to work hard and stay consistent with your workout and nutrition plan. That’s why a positive attitude is key in helping you stick to your training program. A positive attitude is what will help you make the most out of your workouts.
The adequacy of the training program is the next most important thing. Can skinny people build muscle with two- and three-hour workouts? Not really. Generally speaking, any training session that lasts for more than an hour is actually counter-productive. The muscle-consuming substance Cortisol gets produced in muscles after about 45 minutes of training, thus actually reversing the gains that one might have been experiencing. That’s why it’s important to stay away from long workouts. At the same time, workout time needs to be used efficiently in order to maximize benefits. For example, specialized isolation exercises are generally not the best idea for someone who is skinny as they only target specific muscles, and compound exercises which target the major muscle groups generally constitute the best training regimen.
Other important things to pay attention to are nutrition and rest. Can skinny people build muscle on a “normal” diet? Absolutely not. You will need to eat every 3-4 hours to keep a constant flow of protein to your muscles. Also remember that you build muscle not while at the gym but while you rest, which is why good rest is crucial. Nutrition and rest, coupled with the right training program, will help you build muscle.
