Everyone needs a holiday, But if your trying to cut up or your worried you will lose your size gains while your away, I have the perfect solution.....
If your only going away for a week I think its a waste reading this, sometimes a good week off training is very beneficial.
BUT....
If your like me, a few days away from the gym kills me, so keep reading :)
For those of you who are going away for say 3 weeks or your having a year off and going traveling, there are plenty of ways to keep your muscle and conditioning using a few easy exercises and your imagination. Sure you might not gain any more size but you will maintain what you have got and still be fit.
But if you can find a gym while your away make use of that but I suggest you enjoy your holiday and do exercises in your hotel first thing in the morning.
Gym Alternatives
Your no way going to have a smith machine or a leg press in your suitcase but don't worry there are plenty of alternatives. This is where I'm going to ask you to think about old-school training (sit-ups, press-ups) which still can kick your ass!
For Back and Legs, If you grab your suitcase or better still if your traveling with a friend or partner, pick them up and use them as the weight and squat. Pull-ups can easily be done by finding a branch, if a tree is nearby or on some bars if there is a nearby playground. What about hyperextensions? These are really good for your lower back and can be done on a floor.
For chest and shoulders, use the ultimate bodyweight exercise...Press-ups! you can vary from incline to decline by using the edge of a sofa or bed, or what about Bench pressing the bed or using someone else.
Triceps, you could use the bed as your bench and find an object in your room and perform skull crushers, or go back to press-ups with hands closer together. Even tricep kickbacks can be performed with a rucksack.
Biceps, try doing dumbell curls with other equipment in the room, a stool, your bag etc.
Abdominals, Crunches and lying leg raises are always good to use
If your cutting up like I said earlier and your on a beach holiday, the sand is perfect for running or the sea for swimming. It is alot more tiring running in the sand and swimming in the sea so you will burn more calories. If there is a swimming pool nearby it would be even more beneficial because it is good for all round toning of your muscles.
Imagination and common sense is key when you can't get to a gym, these are just a few ideas.
Supplementing while on holiday
Be careful because you don't want to weigh down your suitcase and not have enough room for your clothes. I suggest you just take some amino acids and just the right amount of protein powder for the duration your away.
Conclusion
If you follow my suggestion, you can have an awesome holiday knowing that you are not losing muscle and keep your fat loss goals on track. Just don't go mental and make yourself that sore it ruins your holiday.
