Have you ever trained with a professional athlete? Most people don't really get the chance in life and let me tell you, it really is something else. Training with someone who is literally training for a living is a crazy experience, the amount of dedication and effort that goes into every session is mind boggling, but the results definitely speak for themselves.
One of the first things that struck me about professional athletes was the amount of dedication that they put into their nutrition. There is a big difference between the way that they eat and the way that I eat. During training season there is no question, they completely follow their diets to a T, and that's why they are able to get such great results. One of the first things that I learned from these athletes was that there is no such thing as cheating on your diet, you either follow it or you don't, and when your career and goals depend on that diet you follow it. I quickly learned that there is more enjoyment in reaching my goals and destination then there is in cheating on my diet and having a donut.
The next thing I learned was the importance of giving everything you have in every workout. If you ever slack off the first thing you should think of is what you competitor is doing, if he's putting in harder work you'll probably end up finishing second. Now as a casual athlete I don't have to worry about this, bt it definitely taught me about the kind of intensity that it takes to reach the top.
The last thing I learned from training with professional athletes is the importance of making goals and sticking to them. I realized that all too often I would train without a purpose in mind, I wouldn't be planning on performing better in anything, losing weight, or gaining weight, because of this I often got nowhere. Now I have learned that everything I train for should serve some kind of purpose, and that by training for these purposes I will be able to excel, and so will you.
Now it doesn't matter if you are a professional athlete or not, all of these tips can and will help you reach your goals. Take a look at guys like Jason Khalipa, sure he has the help of great products like Progenex, but that's not all he has, he also has the willpower to push forward and to work hard, and that's what gets him results, and helps him excel, it's what make the difference between him being a normal guy and a professional athlete.
