I have been working out for most of my life (in some fashion). Within the last couple of years, I’ve started a lean muscle workout plan that has garnered some positive results. I put on muscle and gained some serious muscle mass within a two year period. I am writing to share my experience with all of you.
Most of my life I had a long and lanky body type. I was a distance runner when in high school, so over the years I developed long muscle fibers. Long muscle fibers look good as long as your body fat percentage is low, very low…..
Well, after college I got married and had a couple of kids. I wasn’t running much, heck, I wasn’t running at all anymore and I started filling out my 6 foot frame with flab. I was in denial for a while, but after seeing pictures of myself I came to grips with reality; I was fat.
I slowly started back into the gym with a friend of mine who was well versed in weight lifting. We worked out together for over a year and slowly but surely I started to see my body change….for the better! **there were no magic pills involved**
What caused these positive changes in my body was the lean muscle workout plan my friend Jonathon had been teaching me. We would lift weights 5 days a week, do cardio 3 days a week, and would follow a strict eating plan Monday – Friday. The combination of these three elements helped me achieve some tangible results. I went from 230 pounds with about 21 percent body fat to 205 pounds with 11 percent body fat within a year.
I had reached a point to where I had plateaued, but that’s the beauty of a workout plan…..it can change! And mine did. I would follow a weight lifting plan for about six months and then change up the routine. It takes my body about six months to plateau on a workout routine (each person’s body is different so pay attention to yours). I would also change up my cardio and diet every six months as well, just to keep it fresh (I tend to get bored doing and eating the same things over and over).
So, three years now into following a lean muscle workout plan and I am proud to say that I am still seeing results and still learning how to train my body. I am currently at 207 pounds and 10 percent body fat. I am stronger and look better than I ever have. I just turned 30 years old and feel better than I did when I was 20, no lie. I am thankful that my friend Jonathon introduced me to a lean muscle workout plan and that he trained me for a solid year.
In the end I truly believe the “magic pill” in my training was having a solid workout plan and STICKING TO IT. We all need something to keep us motivated and seeing results from my lean muscle workout plan was all the motivation I needed.
We can all achieve results if we put our mind and hearts into it. Just remember, if you fail to plan, you plan to fail.
Good job Sonny, any one who has tried to get into shape can appreciate your accomplishment . The body fat has got to go.
