Dieting is good and all, but does your diet really have YOUR goals in mind? I mean, some diets are for losing weight, others are for getting a healthy liver. Others still are for building up muscle and energy levels. There are many, many diets with many goals in mind. This is what gave me the idea to create the GET RIPPED diet.
So, what is the GET RIPPED diet?
Well I am glad you asked!
To put it simply the GET RIPPED diet will get you ripped! You will lose fat, gain muscle, and have a huge boost in energy among many other youthful qualities.
How does it work?
Easy. This diet will have you focus on foods that promote healthy hormone levels and metabolism. You change the outside by fixing the inside!
So let us get started!
The most important thing you want to consider is your macro-nutrition;the ratio of carbs, fats, and protein you are taking in.
You should be eating a decent amount of protein. Scale it up when you are doing serious muscle training and back down again whenever you take an extended break. Unused protein is hard on the liver and kidneys so more is not always better unlike what the supplement companies would have you believe!
Fat comes in three types. Unsaturated(healthy) fats are fine to eat and you should eat a good amount. They are essential in the formation of hormones that will keep your mood stable and body healthy. They also provide a long burning energy source that will keep your insulin levels stable. Saturated fats are necessary for production of steroid hormones(like testosterone) but it is true that this kind of fat clogs arteries. That is why it is important to keep your intake down to reasonable levels and to do cardio to keep your "pipes cleaned out". Trans fats are a man made preservative and have no nutritional value short of a very drawn out suicide attempt.
Carbs are a very controversial topic. It is my opinion that they should be kept to a minimum because of the insulin spikes they can cause. Spiking your insulin not only leads to a rapid crash afterwards; it can cause your insulin sensitivity to decrease which leads to your metabolism slowing down. In any case, keep the carbs from dominating your diet.
There are many great resources on this topic that you could also look in to for further knowledge. While dieting can be difficult, the benefits greatly outweigh the "sacrifices" that you learn to enjoy in the end anyways. Once you lose your sweet tooth, you will understand why animals love real food so much and will not bother to touch candy.
I love to read your articles. I think I am beginning to understand why my exercise regimen isn't doing much. I hike 6 miles a day and bicycle 10 miles a day but the results are not as evident as I would like. I believe your article on sprints and bursts may be the answer to what I need to do to make this better. Thanks for sharing your insight.
Anything is better than nothing. But at the same time, your body can only respond positively to so much. A lot of what you see in pro sports is the result of HGH/doping so it brings about a misconception about the right kind of training.
Great article. Well written and easy to read; so much so that it was a very natural flow to click over to your website. Nicely done on both,
Thanks! I`ve been working on that, if you look at some of my older stuff it seems a lot more unnatural.
