If you're feeling skinny and are looking to add some extra pounds then it is important that you know exactly which healthy foods to eat to gain weight. Remember to avoid unhealthy foods such as pastries, cakes and takeaway food because you will gain unwanted flab in all the wrong places. Girls want to have a nice curvy figure and boys want to have defined muscles. This can be achieved if you consume unprocessed nutritious foods. You will also want to eat foods that will boost your caloric intake.

You need to figure out how many calories that you use daily and add an additional 500 to 1,000 calories. This will help you to put on several pounds a week. When working on what to eat to gain weight first focus on unprocessed foods to put on the pounds in all the right places.

Sensible Foods to gain weight

Foods like boxed snacks, pastries, and fast foods are not what to eat to gain weight. Instead, you should have more meals and snacks every day so that you will eat more calories than you are burning. Healthy foods to consume to gain weight comprise the following:

Breads - Breads that you should eat include whole wheat, oat bran, or rye. These hearty grains are very nutritious. When you eat your healthy breads cut them into thick slices and put spreads like peanut butter, jam, honey, or cream cheese on them.

Vegetables are always a healthy food group when you are looking for what to eat to gain weight. You need to make sure that you are eating starchy foods, like white potatoes, sweet potatoes, and other starches. You need to add green vegetables to your diet. There are many good vegetables like green beans, peas, corn, tomatoes, cucumbers, and other vegetables.

Fruits are always important to add to your diet. You should concentrate on fruits like bananas, peaches, pears, apples, and dried fruits. Fruits with high water content such as oranges, watermelons and grapes are excellent to eat for snacks.

Soups are good to help add more nutrition to your diet. You should consume homemade creamy soups or soups full of vegetables. Avoid eating the canned soups since they are not good for you and add a lot of salt to your diet.

Cook your foods in oils such as olive oil or butter. This is a great way to get those extra calories in your diet.

The use of spreads on breads, toast, crackers, or other grain derived foods are very healthy and will add calories to your diet.

You want to make your diet work the right way for you. That’s why you need to add a good resistance program to help put those pounds in all the right places and help you burn the unwanted calories. Also it just isn’t what to eat to gain weight that you should be working on. Remember you need to get enough rest to help keep you healthy.
