As majority of Western European countries continue experiencing draught, waterless car wash technology becomes a solution for citizens owning cars as well as a great business opportunity for entrepreneurs.
In America or Australia and even some cities in Europe, you will see gangs of brightly uniformed girls and boys hitting the business centre parking spaces on the regular basis, waving colourful microfiber towels and sprays. These guys are actually washing their clients ‘cars! Without using any water! Well, not quite correct – in fact, the car wash products that they use are all water based. Yet this is the only water, involved in car washing process and this is what allows car care businesses to offer a mobile car wash services.
Is it something new? Far away! Waterless car wash technology was discovered a few decades ago in Australia. Yet it is still a novelty and not that popular in Europe. Why?
First of all, the automotive car care industry is very stagnant with a few very strong chemical brands dominating the market. Secondly, people are still rather sceptic about this - it goes against the human brain, which says, ‘This doesn’t make sense’. People still lack the knowledge and experience - it is not widely spoken about that, so how would they know?
Nevertheless, this is exactly what makes it a great spot for investors and young entrepreneurs. The market tendencies show that the consumers are turning to greener alternatives and are already changing their habits to preserve natural resources such as water. In fact, water – in particular. Unfortunately, experts say, that Europe is going to face an enormous drought in the upcoming years.
See what’s going on now – there are hosepipe restrictions (outdoor use of water supplies) announced for some regions in England; Dutch are banned from watering their loans or washing cars on a hot summer day. Moreover, recently it has been broadcasted that Spain and Portugal face the worst drought in 70 years. Germany is drier than it's been since they started measuring in 1893. Overall, Europe is facing worst drought in 100 years.
Certainly, in a severe drought, any little bit helps. The small act of saving as much as 380 liters of water per car wash may be a very important step in the nearest future.
An European distributor, ECT Europe, has foreseen this business opportunity by importing Eco Touch waterless car wash products from the USA. ECT Europe is now inducing others to carry on this line into local markets and build the market awareness before others do that. „There is no doubt that waterless car wash products will become more and more dominating in European markets, especially those, facing the drought problems“ – says Ugne Kontare, Director of ECT Europe. “The technology not only preserves water, but is extremely convenient for drivers, saves money and time too. I see waterless as a great opportunity for the new business and that is why we are here. The market is changing gradually and I am a witness of that.“ - adds Mrs Kontare.
There are so many ways where business find new niches without big investments. I.e. Mobile car wash businesses just need the right products and the right people to start up the business. Some may think of a local distribution, covering various channels.
Well, it is the matter of the business scope and orientation, but it is sure as the dawn that as the drought continues hitting Europe and as business is being forced to take social or environmental responsibility in either way, its input in waterless car wash business will quickly pay back. But… as everywhere - the first one gets the best slice of the cake.
