Human beings are emotional creatures and these emotions and our past experience affect our way of life, actions and thoughts. Things in our past greatly influence our present, so if we encounter a similar situation we react either positively or negatively. This will depend how the original situation impacted us.
I talk about our reaction because we can change that, however it take a lot of mental discipline to change the way we react and think. We call it positive reinforcement. This can only be done by looking at the original situation and changing our thought process towards the situation.
Positive thinking or as I say the power of positive thinking is basically mind over matter. By this I mean we have to see the brighter side of the picture. It is seeing the glass half full or half empty.
A mind filled with good thoughts responds and acts in ways that produce wholesome results that bring joy and happiness and smiles. This attitude impacts not only to the person but also to those around them. The person is fun to be around and always see things on the bright side.
Adopting a great a mental attitude, teaches you to to look at things differently than always looking at the negative. It helps and stimulates success, growth and favorable results.
Many pessimists do not believe in this and think it is a bunch of baloney.Those who believe in it have seen a tremendous change in their lives because they have used it to impact not only their lives but of people around them.
I have had a personal experience of this, an aunt who had fallen and hurt herself so badly since there was major damage to her rib cage was put in a body cast and this made it impossible for her to move. She did not grumble or tell anyone how terrible she felt, in fact she was so cheerful and witty it made us all forget that she was so badly injured. The doctors had not given her much hope of total recovery, thinking back I feel she beat all odds because of her positive attitude.
This subject has attracted the attention of many writers which has lead to the publication of many books and also attracted the attention of the media and many talk shows have focused on this subject.
Everyone says have a positive attitude, what they really mean think positively and that will influence your behavior. Or others may emphasis positive thinking which is one and the same. If we think and see good in every action that translates in our attitude changing and impacting all the situations that we are in.
There are studies done of people with a positive attitude get well faster than those who always see the worst. By looking on the brighter side we create and surround ourselves with positive energy and reassurances. It gives us hope and hope is what we should have in life.
So do you want to change your attitude and enjoy happiness and good health. Here are a few tips:
See the good in every situation
Envision the life you want for yourself
Live everyday as though it is your last
Surround yourself with positive people
Take negativity out of your life
Use constructive language
Uplift others
Smile.
I believe that all things are possible if we try. It takes work and we can achieve it by baby steps. Remember the phrase, smile and the world smiles with you, cry and you cry alone.
