For those of us who love camping in the vast outdoors with the sun looming over our heads while all the more enjoying the relaxation a good old-fashioned fishing spot nearby or simply bask in the beauty of the starlight night sky, a well planned out camping trip is a fun-filled camping trip.
So to help enjoy the next camp outing you plan on taking in the near future take a peek at a checklist of the top 10 things to bring on a camping trip I came across that could prove useful to have a safe and fun-filled outing that you will want to remember;
First Aid Kit - Bringing a First Aid Kit along might just save your life especially in the unknown wilderness.
From infections to cuts safety is always my top priority last thing you need to concern about is every bruise you might come across on your camping trip just ruins the outdoor experience
Shelter - Unless your planning on roughing it out inside the car in the outdoors, I must suggest you bring along some form of shelter which is really common sense I know but never be too well prepared to battle the elements nature might throw at you.
Bug Spray - Keeping those pesky pest mosquitoes from taking a snack on you is something I personally don't look forward to while camping so why would you, am I right?
Matches/Lighter - You can't cook a good meal without a fire so unless you know the trusty scout methods of creating fire on the fly, you might just want to skip it and go straight for a lighter to get a good fire going.
Self Defense Weapon - Having a knife opposed to a firearm is a great idea to carry around with you while camping, in-case you encounter hostile wild life use as a last resort if all else fails.
Food - If living entirely off of nature is your cup of tea I won't judge but I much prefer bringing along cuts of meat and other treats to get a good outdoor grill going.
Keep in mind to Ziploc every scrap of food possible to help not only preserve the food but avoid ants & critters from taking a meal as well.
Water/Beverages - Dehydration will kick in if you ignore this basic principle of life so bring plenty of bottles take into account the amount of people coming along with you and number of days you will be spend camping, it pays to plan-ahead.
Sunblock,Sunglasses - Anything to block out the Sun's harmful UV rays from turning your skin into a sun-dried prune the effects of tissue breakdown leads to skin cancer so take proper precautions.
Sleeping Bags - You need a place to sleep right? Sleeping on the dirt is uncomfortable at best so having those comfy sleeping bags to curl up on can help get a good night's sleep.
Maps & Compass - Becoming lost in the wilderness is no picnic, so avoid being lost with no sense of direction whatsoever get yourself a map & compass ready on you at all times, getting lost is never planned.
Keep this checklist in mind next time you go camping and try not bring something you shouldn't this isn't the 10 things you should not take on vacation list, so keep yourself and your family from harm's way & hopefully your next trip goes without a hitch.
I only go camping once every blue moon Shawn so I hear you but while your out there you can't help but take it all in
Exactly preparation is key although some people prefer a all in box ready to go (yes I'm looking at you Rob:) lol ,but thank you for the comment camping can be fun if done right Thanks Again!
Some thing we do often, with so many places to do it in my country... we have a box with all these type necessities permanently kept ready to go on short notice... nothing like a spur of the moment camping trip, without a lot of time wasted preparing for it... the boy scouts motto "Be prepared"
To each his own bud, my motto got to be spend a few extra minutes in preparation pays off for me in the end with no double trips in my part i must admit I forget everything, I should have joined scouts lol
That's why we have them all in a box ready to go, when we return from a trip we replenish anything that was used so that it's not forgotten next time.. your list is complete.. all we do is buy the meat and drinks whilst on our way... quick and easy...
Some awesome advice! I enjoy the outdoor and leaving the modern technologies at home. No cell phone, no email and no TV. I am ready to go camping!
Awesome a fellow camper, hope your camping trip is full of adventure enjoy them outdoors!
