It’s spring!! Time to plan some camping outings. Today, where I live here in northern Minnesota, there is a winter storm moving in. Not really camping weather but a good time to be planning one. Every year at about this time I get this overwhelming urge to take a little trip, get away from home and go camping. Be sure to have a good camping supplies checklist. There are so many available, be sure and use one. I've come up with a basic list of necessary items I think are important. Remember though, this is't a complete list, just a rough draft. You'll find it by clicking the link below..
Having had tons of experience going out into the backcountry and spending time. Even having had the opportunity to live in completely primitive conditions for extended periods of time. No matter how many times I’ve gone out into the woods to go camping and NOT used a camping supply list, there’s been stuff left behind. (my most common items left at home are a flashlight, batteries, toilet paper, tent stakes…….. etc. etc) So anyway, use a list.
Most important, if the family is all going, get the best family tent you can afford. Not just any old cheap tent. It’ll make a much more pleasant experience, better memories and a much better chance of doing it again if everyone is comfortable. Sometimes when the weather turns bad, especially at night, and everyone is uncomfortable, an otherwise goodtime can turn bad and not just ruin the trip but ruin the chance of having another one later on.
Food is the other most important item. Depending on the type of camping your doing, food needs to be well planned out. Could be a big cooler full of easy stuff to prepare, or lightweight, dehydrated. high protein meals. A lot of stuff can be carried in a vehicle or even in a canoe but not so when carrying everything on your back.
My website at Out of the Woods Store.com is still so new that all the information I want isn’t there yet. I’m hoping for some comments and suggestions to get all the right contents. Getting the interest of the real outdoorsman and backwoodsman is my goal. I’m real old-fashioned in most ways but am eager to swap ideas. Most of the people I get along with the best say they were born 150-200 years too late. Since we weren’t, let’s take advantage of all the modern conveniences we have and get the most out of the life we’ve been given and head out to the woods.
