What to Wear For Camping

Dressing to go camping can be a challenging thing. What in the world are you supposed to wear when you are camping? However, this is not something that you should worry about, for knowledge is key.

First, the way you dress when camping depends on the camping you are doing. If it is cold out side you are going to want to dress warmly, and obviously if it is hot outside you are going to want to dress cooler. Your first concern is not about how "stylish" or "good" you look. You need to be concerned with protecting yourself form the elements.

Cold Weather Camping - When cold weather camping you need to wear layers. If you get too hot you can always remove the clothing as you need to, but if you don't have anything else to add you will get cold. It is also important that you are not sweating. The sweat could freeze and make for added complications. There is a lot of good warm high dollar clothing that you can buy, but unless you are doing some extreme cold weather camping this is probably unnecessary. You should be more than fine with what you have. Start out with a thermal layer. You are going to want this to hold in your body heat. Next you are going to want to have some insulation layers. Wool is also something to keep in mind as is is a insulator and water resistant. Make sure to cover all of your body thoroughly and cover your hands, feet, and HEAD. You lose the majority of body heat through your head, so a stocking hat is an absolute must.

Warm Weather Camping - When it is hot outside you are going there are also things to remember. You are obviously going to want to wear less clothing, but there is a fine line. It will not do you any good to run around half naked while camping. I guarantee you will regret it. Depending on what you are doing you should be very considerate. When you are outdoors there is a potential for rashes, poison, thorns, and thistles. If there is any chance of exposure to these you need to be wearing long pants and closed toed shoes. The closed toed shoes are often stressed as an all of the time must. A very light long sleeve shirt is ideal, but if you do have skin exposed remember your sun screen. No your not going to the beach, but nothing is more uncomfortable than being sunburned sleeping in a hot tent.
