How Does The Body Deal With Cancer? What a wonderful thing to understand. The body is an incredibly complex group of “systems” that are designed naturally to work together to support the body’s survival. It is programmed with all the “right stuff” at a molecular and cellular level to fight disease. The body is already programmed to fight cancer effectively, if all the right conditions are in place. The primary goal in any cancer treatment should be to create the optimum environment for the body’s immune system so that it can do what it does best; fight disease naturally.
Most of the body’s reactions to illness we generally consider to be a negative thing: cold sweats, throwing up, or fever. But the reality is that when these sorts of things occur, it is the body simply trying to get rid of the toxins so that it can heal itself the way it is programmed to do. If you stop this process of getting rid of toxins naturally, then the body reacts to the toxins and conditions for disease can dominate. However, if you have a healthy immune system, the detoxification can occur more naturally.
When your immune system is healthy and free of toxins the nutrients that your body needs are better absorbed and used to attack disease. The reduced nutrition in the body is not a result of cancer existing but rather, one of the causes. The body's natural pH level is between 7.35 and 7.45. Anything below that is considered to be acidic and the blood has low levels of oxygen. Without oxygen, glucose can ferment and create lactic acid, which causes the cell's pH to drop below 7.3. In more advanced stages of cancer and in metastases the pH may drop lower than 6.0.
The body keeps the blood serum within a small range of pH, around 7.4. If the pH level is above 8.0, the body is considered to be alkaline and the cancer cells become “sick”. The immune system is then able to attack and kill them. If the body is too acidic, many of the nutrients cannot be absorbed by the body into the immune system and the right conditions exist for cancer cells to thrive. If the body is more alkaline, then the cells are oxygen rich and the conditions do not allow cancer cells to survive.
One of the more commonly practiced alternative cancer treatments is based in something called the alkaline diet. Simply put, the alkaline diet practitioners suggest that you can kill off cancer cells by maintaining a diet that is heavier on the alkaline than the body's normal balance. This can be achieved throught changes in diet and lifestyle. But that's a conversation for another article. Let's go back to some more learning about cancer.
Cancer cells are simply normal, healthy cells that mutated genetically on their own to adapt and thrive in an environment of low or no oxygen. As cancer cells grow into larger tumors, they serve to impact the organs negatively which eventually causes the organ to fail, on its own and/or as part of a larger system of organs. The tumors are a concentration of toxins that are held together in a protective shell and as they grow their physical size can interfere or disrupt another body function causing its failure.
When tumors are cut through surgery, it is very common for the toxins to rapidly spread into other areas of the body forming cancer, and speeding up these systemic failures. Remember, when the body is in optimum health, all the systems work together to fight disease. So, many alternative cancer treatments are generally based in something to do with detoxification, nutritional intake, and creating the right natural conditions so that cancer cells cannot survive. Some natural treatments also focus on identifying and treating root causes of cancer caused by some traumatic life event or experience, whether it is physical or emotional.
But what is cancer really? The next article will probe that a bit. We'll look at what cancer is and how it is classified. Read and learn...
