Hidden Cancer

Although there is no definite cure for cancer in today's modern world of medicine and technology, the growing amount of information has been and will be very helpful to the health industry and the general public. One interesting and helpful information to know about for future reference is the behavior of recessive genes.

Recessive genes are genes that are present when the dominant gene are not manifested. In the case of schizophrenia, the gene that codes for schizophrenia has been studied and acknowledged to be recessive for individuals who have schizophrenia. However, researchers have proved that schizophrenia becomes dominant by turning on the genes that code schizophrenia around the age of twenty. More importantly, the studies have proved that if an individual show signs of schizophrenia that the individual inherited from his or her parents. It is good to watch out for signs of schizophrenia or do some research within the family tree to prevent or treat it as soon as possible.

On the same note of genes, the protein known has a RAS receives signals upstream and sends signals downstream for a cascade effect. When the protein gets activated by a kinase and the mutation causes the RAS protein to grow cells uncontrollably, then you have what is known as cancer. This type of mutation to the RAS protein is related to many types of cancer that spreads from organ to organ. Information of this sort is important to look further into as well as be informed about. It is because of this behavior of cancerous cells that has lead some researchers to believe that the chances of finding cures for cancer are rare but the best alternative would be to treat it at its early stages.

Recessive genes can also become dominant in one more rare case where there are incesstual breeding between families. How could this happen? Genetically speaking, the female and male who are incest had heterozygous alleles and the probability of them producing offspring with deformities increased because of the recessive alleles present in the their genes. In other words, the physical traits that were not suppose to occur in a typical mating occurred in a incest mating and therefore manifested the recessive traits. What traits specifically? Down syndrome or any abnormalities within the chromosomes.

What can all this information tell you? Genetics is life and it is important to understand how this situations occur and how they can be treated or even prevented for the future.
