I want a job, but do you possess the two essential requirements?
If you want a job, improve your chances of finding one by considering whether if you had a small business and you needed one other person to help you, what sort of person you would be looking for. Once you have done that, then consider how you can be that sort of person, then present yourself as such a person to potential employers. The chances are that an employer who is looking to recruit a new worker will feel much the same as you. In the final analysis only two things are important ‘ability’ (qualifications, experience etc.) and ‘attitude’. I am assuming that you will be looking for a job that you have the ‘ability’ to do, therefore that leaves only ‘attitude’! That is the factor that you need to have and you need to show that you have.
I want a job, but what kind of worker are you?
In the long run, whether through your own enterprise, or by getting paid by an employer, your earnings are bound to be dependent upon whether you are a good worker or not. As I have said, there are rare exceptions to this as there are with all generalisations, so you can take my advice or try and be a successful exception, (but the former is a lot easier than the latter).
Kent Hovind has some very apposite advice for anyone who is thinking “I want a job”. He says that there are basically 4 kinds of worker as follows. 1. Notices what needs doing and does it without being requested. 2. Proactively asks what needs to be done. 3. Responds only when requested. 4. Hides away when there is work to be done.
I want a job, but what is your attitude?
Which are you? Be honest and don’t flatter yourself. These differences between people are very fundamental and often habitual. They spring from one’s approach to life. If you are not like the first type, then you need to work on your attitude and your actions. You may be sure in the long run that those in the first category are likely to earn a lot greater reward (and probably more money) than those in the 4th category. We are talking here about character (and character is moulded by long term behaviour, which in turn is moulded by the way we think), so thinking right and behaving right will eventually lead to being right. As the Bible says in the book of Proverbs 22:29, Show me somebody who does a good job, and I will show you somebody who is better than most and worthy of the company of kings.
I want a job, but is self-employment your last resort?
If you cannot find a job after doing this, then maybe you should consider working for yourself. Think of the different things that you could do. Self-employment should not be your last resort. Remember that the job market depends on supply and demand, most of us are virtually powerless to influence either, so instead of becoming a victim of forces greater than ourselves, why not have a go at self employment. After all nothing ventured nothing gained, as the saying goes. You say “I want a job”, set a date and if you cannot find an employer by that date, then why not consider starting a home business more seriously. You may be surprised at how rewarding it can be, with the right attitude. If you can cultivate the right attitude, then you are likely to be on your way to achieving success, it shouldn't be long before you find a job.
