You are loyal to your job. You rarely show up late, and you are always cheerful and eager to help. You are human, however, and you do sometimes call in sick--even on a Friday or a Monday.
One reason why you might call in sick on a Friday or a Monday is if you are in fact actually sick. Your children might bring a stomach virus home from school, for example. The virus will make its rounds, passing from one family member to another. If you have the virus when Friday or Monday rolls around, you would be justified in calling in sick. After all, if you went to work sick, you would be making frequent trips to the restroom to throw up, which would take you away from your work. You would also very likely give the virus to your coworkers. It is much smarter to stay home and get well. If you stay home, your workplace can maintain its high productivity, and your coworkers can stay well. When you get well, you can return to work and help your workplace to be the best that it can be. Actual sickness is, of course, not the only reason why you might call in sick at the beginning or end of the week, of course.
You might call in sick on a Monday if you have a presentation to give at work later in the week, and you need more time to prepare for it. Calling in sick will allow you time to get organized, write your report, and rehearse your presentation so that it will go well. By having more time to prepare, you may be more confident and less nervous during your presentation. You might then get the result that you are after, such as a raise. Getting a raise will give you more money, which will allow you to live a better life. Living a better life will allow you to pay your bills on schedule. It can also allow for some great weekends. You might take a trip to a nearby city one weekend, for example. While you are there, you might go shopping, eat at a restaurant, and go see a movie. After your exciting, fun-filled weekend, you may be too tired to go to work on Monday. You might then decide to call in sick so that you can stay home and get some rest in order to be able to return to work on Tuesday.
You are allowed a certain number of sick days each year. If you are actually sick, stay home and get well. If you are not sick, however, go to work. Your coworkers and supervisor need you, and you will appreciate having the money. You will be glad that you went to work, rather than taking the easy way out and staying home.
