Pet Care Responsibility

Pet care responsibility is, the owners obligation to their pets. No matter what else seems important, and no matter what mindset you have towards your pet, they are, your dependants. Just as much as your immediate family, they depend upon you for their welfare.

They look to you for food, shelter, and medical care when needed. Something that as a pet owner, you must consider daily. Food and shelter, are the basic, medical care, can and often is the one thing that just shows up out of the blue. Just like children, they get hurt just being themselves, doing the things that they love to do. Many times it is just a case of accident, as with children, an accident happens, and they get hurt.

Sometimes it may seem like you have the vet on speed dial. Every pet will go through that phase, just like kids. Some more than others, while some may go through their entire life without getting hurt. But to be totally responsible, means that you have accepted this pet knowing ahead of time, there will be visits to the vet. Because even if it not an emergency that causes you to go to the vet, annual check ups, and shots, are part and parcel, of responsible pet care.

Your pets safety is another responsibility that can not be taken lightly. Just like kids, they are curious, and do not know any better, when it comes to danger. Be it from harmful liquids, machines, poisons, or anything else that may put them in danger. You as an owner must learn what is dangerous, and take the necessary precautions to avoid a situation. Just like kids it is amazing how pets will find the strangest things right in their own backyard.

When it comes to the behavior of your pet, there is plenty of information, on how to correct bad behavior, in your pet. Some make behavior modification, look so easy. I guess it is the difference, in knowing what the problem is, and understanding your pet. Establishing boundaries, and teaching acceptable behavior. What is interesting in pet behavior modification, is it can usually be done with minimal frustration and no physical punishment.. It is amazing how the reward good behavior training, is so effective, in training a pet, to do just about whatever you want.

The reward that you get in return, from a healthy, happy pet, is great. The longer your pet stays with you, the more profound the effect. All it takes is the commitment to be a responsible pet owner.
