Homemade Cleaning Solutions For Car Upholstery
When you need to clean the interior of the car, we recommend removing everything off the floors and the seats. Gather everything that you usually hold on the seats as you will need to thoroughly clean the upholstery. When everything is removed from the car, vacuum the upholstery to remove the dust and the dirt from the fibres.
The next step is to determine the material your car upholstery is made of – it could be either vinyl or fabric upholstery.
The vinyl upholstery is easily cleaned. To remove the stains from the upholstery you may use only a mild liquid dish detergent. Mix the detergent with some warm water and fill in a spraying bottle with the solution. Spray directly the upholstery and use a clean piece of cloth to wipe the surfaces. Rinse the area with clean water and clean towel. If you notice more stains you may repeat the process. At the end open the car windows and leave the upholstery to air dry.
If you need to clean fabric car upholstery, you may use laundry detergent. Mix two cups of warm water and two spoonfuls of liquid laundry detergent into a spray bottle. Spray directly the upholstery surfaces and wipe with a sponge. Avoid pouring the solution into the seating. Rinse the cleaning product with clean water and clean piece of cloth. If you find it necessary, repeat the cleaning process.
The most common stains on the car upholstery are caused by oil and gasoline. For both upholstery materials you may use a mixture of one cup water and three spoonfuls of white vinegar. Add also a few drops of liquid dish detergent and add the solution into a spray bottle. Follow the instructions above to remove the stains. Vinegar will remove the stains and will deodorise the upholstery also.
It is really important to take care of your car and to do it green for your own health. Especially if you are spending a half day in the car.
