A successful declutter and detox is going to take time no matter who you are so first things first - don't start unless your sure you can finish. Decluttering is much more than finding your spare stuff then chucking it in boxes - you will still know the clutter's there and this will not help with the detox side of things.
In your mind you think that all this stuff you've accumulated ( general clutter ) is essential to your life being a success - ' I may need this one day '. In reality this is rubbish, clutter is clutter so declutter and detox today. So where to start? there are many places in your house that you have probably not even considered as a clutter-spot. Lets get the obvious out of the way first of all - the dreaded wardrobe.
Now without sounding sexist, this problem tends to be multiplied when it comes to the female side of the species, I'm not saying it does not happen with men, it's just more frequent with women. When you venture inside of your wardrobe exactly how many items are over a decade old and do you really think you are ever going to wear them again. How many ladies have kept that size six dress from their high school days because someday they have convinced themselves they are going to fit into it again? Declutter and detox and get rid!
Next is something I'm afraid I am also guilty of - bathroom clutter i.e. cosmetics and washing agents. My bathroom is full of bottles and tubes that have a half inch of cream/liquid left in them. The problem is that decent cosmetics these days cost money and there is no way around this - cheap cosmetics do not work as well as the more popular brands. Now when you pay so much for these brands you really do not want to throw any of the contained substance away. But all these bottles lead to a mess - declutter and detox and get rid of the almost empty bottles.
Attics and cellars are perfect places for clutter to establish itself and stay out of sight, out of mind. How many of us still have the old microwave downstairs even though it has turned brown through the grease and fats embedded into it. A old cupboard full of remote controls for TV's you have thrown out years before - why would you keep these. To declutter and detox is to clean your mind and end up with a healthier living space for you and your loved ones.
