Getting Rid Mold In The Bathtub
Join 1000's of Authors at StreetArticles Today!

The bathtub looks disgusting with mold growing in it. It doesn't matter if the mold is pinkish or the sprouting black stuff. It needs to go.

Wear cleaning gloves. Turn on the exhaust fan to circulate air as bleach cleaners tend to sting the eyes. Leave the compacted room during waiting periods and find something else to do.

Plugging the drain and filling the tub with hot water and letting it sit for a while helps to start the procedure. Bleach can be added into the water, if you want. After a short while, drain the tub. Any mold still there will bne looser from the surface. Rinse the tub and add a bleach cleaner to the moldy spot, such as Tilex. Soaking with Tilex for a half hour or so will eliminate a lot of the mold.

There's almost always a shadow though, so get a comfortable scrubber and scrub away. Rinse this good. Then wet the walls of the bathtub with a cup and with a sponge spread Soft Scrub with Bleach. Wait it out another half hour or so, then it is back to elbow grease and your sponge, scurbbing away dirt, scum and that shadow of mildew. Rinse well with warm water. If after all that, there is still some awful creature of dirt, spread another layer of Soft Scrub with Bleach on the walls of the bathtub and the bottom of the tub as well. Let this work on it a short time, then scour away with elbow grease and your sponge or scrubber. Rinse again with warm water.

Still see some awful dirt or what you hope is not the mold? Soak a Magic Eraser and running warm water in the tub, do more scrubbing. At this point, the Magic Eraser will be working into the nubs of the tub, where dirt tends to sit and it will do a pretty good job of scrubbing that away. Your elbow grease is a great help cause we really want that tub clean and get this job done. Rinse the tub well and with a towel, dry the bathtub. Drying the tub helps to lessen a filmy residue which you normally don't see, but will leave a powder on your hand if you run your hand across the tub with it is thoroughly dry.

People have their own favorite cleaning products and what you trust, you should use. Through trial and error, these have worked for me, cleaning vacant apartments.
