While growing up, we all had persons, places and achievements that we admired more than others. We somehow looked at them like they were "Divine"ÂÂ! At least, they were to us..As our cultures and societies are unconsciously urging us to copy everything that is already working to bring success and thus happiness, we found it natural to follow those preferences. Coming up with our owns is seen as a waste of time and energy..Why change a winning team, they say?
But what if this process is against our evolution as specie?
What if choosing our own way to live life is the most important decision to start a path of purpose and fulfillment?
If you had read few of my posts, you will know by now that I spent years in the corporate world and more precisely in the Banking Business. This field is a real tomb of lost and suffering souls ever! I remember one of my dear friends always talking about retiring as soon as his investments will allow it to become a shoe specialist. He will talk about how this will change his future customers daily life and give them the freedom to move and run as much as they want (He runs marathons, he should know about a good shoe). IâÂÂm a firm believer that one of worst life's curses is to be good at something you don'ÂÂt love! We were too many living with that curse back then..
But why are we doing this?
Why are we staying at jobs, relationships, locations and circumstances that are eradicating happiness from our lives?
The answer lies in our life's Blueprint.
In simple words, a Blueprint is a plan that describes how to do or achieve something in the future. It serves as a pattern, as a guide, as a model to what will be a solid and tangible achievement later on. Unconsciously or consciously, we all have drawn that plan/framework in our heads of how our life is supposed to be in order for us to be happy and fulfilled. As mentioned before, we did it based on the preferences we accumulated, as long as they are permitted and accepted by the surrounding environment. Except that those preferences were blindly chosen by us as we didn'ÂÂt know how we will feel once they become ours and how they will grow on us?
The famous Life coach Tony Robbins (1) often says: "ÂÂIf you are not pleased with the story in your head (aka Blueprint), change the story or change what is not matching up the story"ÂÂ. This means that you and I have the mission: first, to assess what is the story that we have been carrying our whole life (write it down, you will be surprised what you will discover if you are doing it honestly). Second, determine if this story is what you really want your life/statement to the world to be or if it is just a âÂ"borrowed identity" that you found yourself in by default. Finally, you either amend what'ÂÂs missing from it (if it is your genuine chosen story) or you design a new blueprint from scratch (how exciting!)
Mostly, let your life'ÂÂs blueprint include: * A deep belief in your dignity, your own worth (I'ÂÂm different and yet beautiful), * A determination to be the best at whatever you are or do ("ÂÂI must be measured by my soul, the mind is the standard of the man"ÂÂ) and * As Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr (2), once put it: "Be committed to the eternal principles of Beauty, Love and Justice".
It's your turn,
What's in your life's Blueprint?
