How to Make Coffee Tips, And Tricks

COFFEE BREWING LESSONS 101

Here are just a few tips and factors that may improve your at home coffee brewing experiance. When i first started making my own coffee i was disappointed many many times over until i learned a few tips and tricks in the art of coffee brewing! I kept asking myself how do the espresso stands do it?? When i would make my own coffee at home it always tasted bitter or even sour at times and lacked that sweet aroma i loved from say Starbucks or any of your local espresso stands. Of course they have the professional brewing machines and ingredients that are much more expensive than what you can buy at your local grocery store but that doesn't mean you cant make a delicious home made coffee while saving yourself some money along the way! So first here are some tips iv'e learned from trial and error and hopefully this will save you some time and mulah :-) enjoy!

Tip #1 - Keep it Oxygen free, Preserve the Freshness

Write these words by your coffee station "SEAL THE BAG" or "SEAL THE CONTAINER" Matter of fact just burn those two phrases into your coffee brewing brain because there's nothing that kills the taste of coffee quite so much as Oxygen... Keep it in a cool dry place and make sure to instantly seal off any oxygen that may creep into your coffee supply immediately after every use. It is a freshness killer

Tip #2 - Use Recommended Amounts Of Coffee while brewing

Read the instructions..... On the back of your coffee package it will give you a coffee to water ratio chart, simply follow the recomended amounts listed and all should be good! Until you learn to add more or less coffee grounds based on your taste prefrence (some people like a thick black cup, some like a lighter not so strong brew) just stick to the recommended amounts. It will prevent you from putting too much or too less into the strainer and save you time and frustration...

Tip #3 - Never use Tap water for brewing

Unless you want your coffee to taste like your drinkin straight out of a led pipe... I strongly suggest you use filtered water. There are so many minerals in todays tap water, and it can badley affect the taste of your coffee. Filtered water is the only way!

Tip #4 - Buy High Quality Coffee

The quality of the coffee you are using is always a major factor, obviously if you use a cheaper brand coffee chances are the quality of beans being used in the coffee have been compromised in the name of profit. Unless you like the specific taste of the less costly brands than go for it, thats tottaly up to you! The perfect cup of coffee differs from person to person so once you achive the taste your going for lock it down! It took me several bags, brands, and wasted coffee cups to finally get my perfect blend :)

Tip #5 - Clean Your Coffee Machine

The cleanliness of the brewing equipment. (CLEAN YOUR COFFEE MACHINE AFTER EVERY USE) Old sediments left behind easily make for rancid flavors in the cup. A good rule of thumb is if you smell an odor from your coffee making equipment, clean it. If you cannot remember the last time you cleaned your brewer, clean it.

Tip #6 - Get A Coffee Grinder

Buy a coffee bean grinder asap, I bought myself a cheap grinder from walmart for $20 and it works perfect. The taste difference between fresh ground coffee beans and pre-ground beans is quite noticeable. I noticed a major flavor difference on the very first brew after i started grinding my own beans. Go with the whole bean coffee and grind it yourself, more aroma, more flavor, more fun!

So thats it! hopefully these tips help you find your way in this vast wonderful world of coffee we live in and help you save some bucks along the way! And remember spare no expense in buying yourself the best beans and coffee brewing machine you can afford. Thanks for reading!

Street Talk

Being a coffee lover I've also discovered some tricks over the last 25 years. Keeping your coffee maker clean is critical. Cleaning all reachable surfaces with a mild soap, and then running a cycle with distilled vinegar in your machine, and finishing with a cycle of clean water works well. I also use filtered water, and always keep my coffee in the freezer.
