Would You Prefer To Go To School Online Or On Campus?

Will you be starting college in the summer or fall? Many people decide to go to college in order to increase their chances of being hired for a job. Many also want to have experience that college can offer them, such as the opportunity to learn more about themselves before they get a job. When a person decides to go to college, he has two options: online or on campus.

Going to school online offers students freedom and flexibility. A person usually does not have to be logged on at 9:00 a.m. for class, for example. Typically, he can log on and do his class work at any time, as long as he meets the requirements for the class. His professor might want students to participate in class activities a minimum of three times a week, for example. In this case, the student would sign in and do as his professor instructed. The student also has the advantage of being able to take his work with him if he must travel. Online schooling is not for everyone, however.

Some students prefer to go to school on campus. They like to go to a physical classroom. They also like to participate in campus activities, such as football games. They like to live in a dorm and have a roommate.

I have gone to school both online and on campus. I enjoyed being able to do my classwork in the comfort and privacy of my own home, but I found that I preferred going to school on campus. I felt better knowing that I could go to my professor's office and ask him to explain concepts that I did not understand. I did not have to wait to receive an email and worry that I might not get a response in time to complete my assignment. Also, since I am a visual learner with a learning disability, I found that I learned better when I could see and hear what my professor was teaching, rather than reading everything off a screen. I was more successful on my tests when I recalled my professors' lectures. Every student is different, however, and each student will pick the method of schooling that works best for him.

When you start college, I wish you well. I hope that you succeed in your classes and that college is a good experience for you, regardless of how you go to school.
