For those who do not know how to weld aluminum and would like to learn how so, I can give you some useful information. It is not how to do it, it is more of the correct way of doing it. You may learn the correct way of doing it is how to do it. It is that easy. It really is not that hard to weld aluminum than it is welding steel.
Both are about the same. It just be like that for some people. For me I think it comes to aluminum welding, it is easy than welding steel. I like to weld steel, but aluminum is what I would call easy. It is so easy a preschooler can do it. I am just saying it is not hard at all. So first of all lets see the steps in learning how to do it.
Well with TIG you may have to wire brush the aluminum before you start to weld on it. That is the way I was taught, so I am just passing it along. Then you would tack it in place before you start welding on it. You continue and make the puddle first making sure the two metals metal before proceeding. That is most basic steps for the TIG process.
For welding aluminum with MIG, it would be more of a breeze! The MIG process is a lot faster than the TIG process. That is a huge advantage. With MIG you do not have brush the aluminum unless it is needed. You would simply just carry the puddle with ease. I would recommend a leading technique and a little more heat because it would make the weld more of a smooth one.
The number one thing that would affect your welds is the fan if you are using it. If you are welding with the fan on so you could keep cool, you may want to turn it off. The fan would give you a very defective weld with all kinds of pinholes in it. So turn your fan off and you would be good to go.
Even though these are simple things one can do to become a aluminum welder, one may understand aluminum welding is just a process. It is a lot to say about this process, but as long as you are doing it correctly, what more can one say? You may as well say just do it like Nike. That is what I do, I just do it. One day with your dedication to welding, I am sure you will be as successful as I am.
