The Iphone 6 Plus And 6s Comparison

Today we are going to be talking about the iPhone 6 Plus and the iPhone 6S Plus in comparison, and also some of their differences. When the iPhone 6S Plus came out last September 25, 2015, many of us have been wondering whether buying it was worth it or should we just stick with the iPhone 6 Plus? Sure, it feels great to be able to show off that you can keep up with the latest Apple gadget, but is it really necessary? Or just another added expense to your wallet?

If you just bought the new iPhone 6 Plus, then there’s really no pressing need for you to upgrade to the 6S Plus, unless you can afford to and you really want to.

First let’s talk about the similarities and differences of the two phone models when it comes to design.

The one in the rose gold color is the iPhone 6S Plus. The iPhone 5S is the only one which has a different design, but the rest are similar. Let’s get to the details:

iPhone 6S

Weight

192 g

The obvious difference between the two phone models is their size, but other than that, the two phones are almost identical to one another.

The iPhone 6S Plus has a screen of 5.5 inches wide, meanwhile the iPhone 6S has a 4.7 inch screen. If you are looking for a bigger screen, then you should definitely upgrade to the iPhone 6S Plus. However, there were some who bought it and then realized that the size of the iPhone 6S Plus was too big after a few days of using it.

I believe this depends on what size you will be more comfortable with using. If you have the money to buy the iPhone 6S Plus and you want a larger screen, then go for it.

What does it mean when the two phone models have the “Series 7000 anodised aluminum back”? This improvement was Apple response to stories that came out about the iPhone 6 Plus being prone to bending at the slightest pressure, even the pressure just from the pocket. It was because of this exact reason that the iPhone 6 Plus didn’t become as popular as the company wanted. Who wanted a phone that bent right? Maybe it was okay if you can return it to it’s original shape but once you bend it, it’s bent forever. And that’s the reason why the 6S phones have this alloy to add as foundation to keep the phone from bending.

Next we head over to the other things that are similar between the two phones. Now, even if the sizes of the screen are different – the iPhone 6S Plus (5.5 inch) being bigger and wider than the iPhone 6S (4.7 inch) – they still hold similarities in terms of the LED-backlit widescreen next generation. Not to mention, that the two models are also the same when it comes to the Multi-Touch display with IPS technology and Taptic Engine. They also have full sRGB standard, a 500cd/m2 max brightness, dual-domain pixels for wider viewing angles, display zoom, “reachability”, support for display of multiple language and characters simultaneously, and the fingerprint resistant oleophobic coating.

When we say that something is oleophobic, it means that oil cannot easily stick to the surface.

The difference between the two phones when it comes to this is the 1920-by-1080-pixel resolution at 401 ppi of the iPhone 6S Plus, compared to the 1334-by-750-pixel resolution at 326 ppi of the iPhone 6S.

Next, the chips of the two phones are the same – A9. They both come with the A9 chip with 64-bit architecture that has been embedded M9 motion coprocessor. What does this mean? This means that if you think that your iPhone 6 Plus was fast, then you are in for a surprise because the 6S phones are faster and are less likely to freeze. They will be able to process thousands of information all at once.

Another similarity between the two phones is the Touch ID. They have both been equipped with the second-generation fingerprint sensor that has been built into the home button.

The iPhone’s camera isn’t really that great compared to Sony phones for example, but I have to say that they don’t really suck either. The 6S phones have improved with having 12 megapixel iSight camera with 1.22µ pixel for their back cameras. The cameras also have a ƒ/2.2 aperture, Live Photoes, improved local tone mapping, improved noise reduction, sapphire crystal lens cover, true tone flash, backside illumination sensor, five-element lens, hybrid IR filter, photo geotagging, timer mode, burst mode, auto image stabilization, panorama that’s up to 63 megapixels, face detection, exposure control, auto HDR for photos, tap to focus with focus pixels, and auto focus with focus pixels.

The only thing that is missing from the 6S from the 6S plus is the optical image stabilization, but other than that, everything is pretty much the same between the two phones with regards to their cameras.

Other notable similarities and differences:

iPhone 6S

Up to 24 hours on 3G

Up to 16 days standby time

Audio playback of 80 hours

4K video recording at 30 fps

1080p HD video recording

Play back zoom for videos

Time-Lapse video with stabilization

iPhone 6S Plus

Up to 14 hours on 3G

Up to 10 days standby time

Audio playback of 50 hours

4K video recording at 30 fps

1080p HD video recording

Play back zoom for videos

Time-lapse video with stabilization

So far, these have been the really notable differences and similarities when you put the iPhone 6S Plus and the iPhone 6S on the spot for comparison. In the end, the decision to upgrade or to stay with the iPhone 6S is all on you. If you have any questions, feel free to message us or leave us a comment below.
