Every welder needs a head gear to perform welding. That welding gear is a welding helmet. A welding helmet has many features with face protection at the top of the list. So if you are considering welding you first should get a welding helmet. The main reason you should wear one is so that you do not burn your eyes. No one wants to be walking around like a zombie similar to the movie resident evil.
You should not even strike the arc without a helmet for protection. The light is so bright it could cause serious burns to the eyes or worst maybe even vision loss. I personally do not want to be a zombie. I want to see the world for what it is and everything in it. The light is known as untraviolet light. That sounds eye threatening!
There is another light referred to as infared light. These two lights sounds like a force from out this world. For those who want to still see these lights, it may be the last lights you see. I have saw them up close and they are very bright. I do not want to lose my vision so I am constantly using my wonderful light blocking original all black welding hood to this day.
I know I used a bunch of words to describe my hood, but it deserves that much. It not only blocks the impolite lights it does more. It protects the face from sparks that flies from the arc. It protects the neck from burns. The light may burn skin that is not covered from it.
One welding helmet can do so much! A helmet contains a small window in which you could see what you are doing. The window includes glass for vision. It has a lens and a clear plastic. The lens is the part the shades the light so you could see the work you are doing. You know how when you look up at the sun and it burns your eyes, well using the helmet it lets you see the sun without burning the eyes.
That is pretty awesome! You should try it with a welding helmet of course. So like you should know now why the helmet is important by now. This maybe the best helmet out there comapred to all the things it can do. In short, I would recommend a welding helmet to you all who wants to be a welder.
