Insecurity in relationships is listed as one of the top reasons that relationships fail. Being insecure can pose countless problems for you. It is important that you realize that your insecurity problem can only be dealt with by you. The burden cannot be placed on another.
Why am I insecure?
Feelings of insecurity in relationships are a direct result of how you feel about yourself. Those who are insecure often feel that what they have to offer is not good enough. There are fears of rejection and the inability to trust. Insecurity can stem from bad experiences in previous relationships or from lack of nurturing in childhood. Whatever the cause, insecurity is real and can damage, if not end, any relationship. Because of this, insecurity problems in relationships must be dealt with.
Insecurity – How to overcome
Insecurity is often overlooked. Unfortunately, many people struggle with it on a daily basis and do to even recognize it as a problem. They wonder why they can’t trust and have feeling of inferiority but they never actually label it as being insecure. If you recognize that you are struggling with insecurity in relationships, there is hope. With proper knowledge you can break the stronghold of insecurity and quit allowing it to ruin your relationships.
- Be confident in yourself. To love others, you must first love yourself. Be confident in who you are what you bring to the table. Know that you are just as good as the next person.
- Avoid comparing yourself to other people. This is the true culprit for insecurity. You must stop comparing yourself to other people. Making comparisons can only serve to make you feel inferior to others. Everyone is different. Being different doesn’t mean that you are any better or worse than the person you are comparing yourself to.
- Improve your self-image. If you are feeling insecure in your relationships, take the opportunity to improve your self-image. There is nothing wrong with wanting to look good. Do something extra for yourself such as getting a new hairstyle. While this is not likely to deal with the root of your insecurity problem, it can help.
- Let go of the past. The past haunts people. If there is something in your past that is causing your to feel insecure in relationships, you must let it go. You have to find forgiveness and move on. Whether it is from your childhood or from a previous romantic relationship, letting go is important in feeling secure again.
Feelings of insecurity in relationships can leave you feeling lonely and unhappy. You must deal with the problem of insecurity before it ruins your life. Realize that you can overcome this problem and trust in relationships once again.
