How Do I Know When Its Time For A Deeper Commitment?

Timing plays a crucial role in successful relationships. Sometimes it seems like everything is one giant rush of emotion. But, you know better than that. Relationships are more like roller coaster rides. There are ups, downs, loops, swoops, twists, and turns. Sometimes you'll feel as though the ground is opening up under you and you're falling madly. At other times, it seems as though your heart is in your throat. The bigger the thrills, the bigger the chills tend to be too. The experience however, is different for some people than others. Not every roller coaster is a good fit for every rider. There are no hard and fast rules for making deeper commitments in the relationship or deciding to move along. That doesn't mean there aren't a few guidelines you'd do well to follow.

You don't have to follow a set roadmap for relationship success. There is no "one size fits all" right time to make the decision for a deeper commitment. Some people are content to live together. Other people live together then get married. Some people never make it beyond dating. Then there are the others who believe that marriage is the only acceptable commitment on the other side of dating. Before you decide to deepen your commitment; you really need to figure out what the next logical step for the two of you, in your relationship, would be. Until you know that there's no point in even considering a deeper commitment. The other thing you should keep in mind is your partner and his or her viewpoint on various commitment options. Would your partner even consider living together or would the question alone leave you with bigger problems to deal with in your relationship?

You don't want to be left wondering how to get your ex back at the end of the day. The last thing you want to happen when you're on the cusp of offering or asking for a deeper commitment with the one you love is making a decision that puts your entire relationship at risk. If all goes well you'll be making plans to enjoy your next level of commitment better or to celebrate it in style.

Here are a few signs that it's time for a deeper commitment.

1) You can't even think of the future as being alone and not with your partner. Your thoughts of the future all involved "we" rather than you alone. 2) You wake up every day looking forward to seeing and/or being with the person you love. 3) You can't even conceive of dating someone else. Your thoughts are on the relationship you have and how to make it stronger.

These signs are sure signs that let you know it's time to take your relationship to the next level. But don't push too hard too fast or you might be looking for ways to save your relationship instead.
