If you have been in a relationship or dating the same man for a while now with no sign of forever you may be wondering if you are with a commitment phobic. You wonder how to get him to commit to you. If you brought the subject up, he may just dance around it or tell you he is not ready. What can you do to make him commit?

Before I tell you what does work, I think it's important to tell you what does not work to make a man commit. Talk. Talking does not work. Men just don't respond to words. When they hear the words "We need to talk", they are going to go on the defense. The reason is because they are used to drama following these words. He also suspects you are about to tell him about your feelings. Shiver, men hate this. They don't talk about feelings on command. Timing is everything.

Talking will not work if you don't back your words with actions. If he has been through these talks with you before where you may even threaten to leave he knows the drill. If you have threatened and never followed through, he knows you are not going anywhere. He knows all he has to do is ride out your emotional wave and you will settle back into his way of doing things until the next time you want to talk.

Talking won't make a man commit, but actions can be very effective. If you tell a man it's not working for you and you tell him what you need and he doesn't deliver but you still stay, you have not shown any actions. If a man is not giving you what you want and need from the relationship, in this case the safety of a commitment, you have to pull back. You have to show him that you mean business. He has to feel it, not hear it. The only way to make him feel it is to implement consequences.

When you use actions to make a man commit, you have to be graceful with it. No tantrums, no emotional storms. You calmly just start putting distance between you and start investing more into your life and less into his. This doesn't mean you have to break up. You just start doing things without him, and enjoying some freedom of your own. He will notice I assure you.

This puts thoughts into his mind that he may very well lose you. If the man loves you, it may be the push he needs to make him commit to you. A man does have to feel it in his core. This is why your words have had no effect. You didn't make him feel it. When a man feels he may lose his girl, it prompts him into taking measures this will not happen.

There are many factors that come into play when it comes to men and commitment. Many women wonder why men will commit to one woman and not another. There are qualities that some women have that just naturally inspire a man to commit. You can find out what exactly inspires a man to commit here.
