Marriage is not easy, but living in a marriage when one or both spouses no longer love each other may seem impossible. However, living in a marriage with no love is not hopeless. Here are some ways to survive and get on track to change your love lacking marriage.
Finding things that you have in common with your spouse will help you deal with a loveless marriage. This will also give you things to talk about with your spouse. You might enjoy the same movies, books, or extracurricular activities (i.e., exercising, playing sports, video games). If so, try to do them together so that you share experiences. While your spouse may say they no longer love you, you can still enjoy spending time with them. Show them you still care.
Another way to survive a marriage with no love is to spend time with your friends. Friends offer an outlet for you to discuss your marriage with people who can offer support, sympathy, and advice. Additionally, spending time with your friends can help to take your mind off of your marital problems for a few hours. Surround yourself with a strong support system and use it.
Counseling can be used to help you cope with a loveless marriage. Whether you go alone or with your spouse, talking to an uninvolved third party will help you cope with your marital situation. Keep in mind that a counselor is not in a position to judge your situation, but, rather, to offer solutions and advice. It may also be helpful for you to see your marriage from a new perspective. More importantly, talking to someone in confidence will help to alleviate stress as well as help you cope with everyday life.
Yet another option available to help you survive a loveless marriage is to get a hobby. Finding a hobby that you really enjoy will give you something to focus on rather than dwelling on your marital situation. In addition, a fun and exciting hobby may just open new doors and opportunities for you!
Finally, when living in a marriage with no love, it is important to set some rules regarding your relationship until you can work everything out. After all, You main objective is to have both of you loving each other again, like you used to.
There are so many resources out there that will help you guys get back to the way things used to be. When things went south in my marriage, I personally used a comprehensive book called "The Magic Of Making Up". We could not be happier now. I not saying it would work for you to, but it may be worth a shot.
