Is chivalry dead? With the ever changing battle of the sexes, it may be confusing for men just how they should be. However, some things don't change. Being thoughtful, kind, and considerate is fundamental for gentlemen. Yet, some men seem to have lost their manners and common sense. To add insult to injury, there are dating coaches who teach men not only how to get women but to be aloof and rude to them as if this bad behavior closes the deal. The illogical theory behind this premise is if a man is rude to a woman it serves to rattle her, causing her to think he's cool and worthy of her attention. Not gentlemanly at all.

Here’s a compilation of my girlfriend’s experiences coupled with my observations, hence “The Rules”. Class 101 is now in session. Let’s get started:

1. Have Facebook etiquette. Stop creating fake profiles to hit on women. Please, no poking!

2. Thou shall not mix politics and romance. It’s a toxic cocktail.

3. Definitely, do not rub your conquest you had during the break-up in your ex-girlfriend’s face to hurt her, especially if you’re trying to reconcile with her. Don’t be stupid!

4. Always walk on the outside of a sidewalk. Your lady should be farther from the traffic.

5. Don’t flirt with other women in front of your woman. If she flirted with other men in your presence, you would get jealous instantly and drop her off somewhere in a millisecond.

6. Don’t cheat on your girl that includes emotionally as well.

7. Stop saying she’s crazy. She can validate that if you keep pushing her.

8. Apologize. Do whatever it takes to keep the peace.

9. Keep your issues about her with her and nobody else.

10. Watch your words. Nobody likes a foul mouth jerk.

11. Be confident without being cocky. A true gentleman knows the difference.

12. Always open the door for your woman. A gentleman will always hold the door for her.

13. If you ask her out, then there’s no going “Dutch”. Pay for the meal which includes the tip too.

14. Don’t do or say things to get a “rise” out of her. This only infuriates her more.

15. Tell her she’s beautiful. Every woman loves hearing those words.

16. Dress like Tom Ford. Google him.

17. Don’t leave her when she needs you the most. Stand by your woman.

18. Don’t make promises you can’t keep.

19. Please stop talking about your ex. If the ex was so great then you should go back to your ex and live happily ever after.

20. Ask her about her day. Watch the real intimacy start.
