There are many reasons that people use the internet, such as for business, entertainment or communication. Regardless of why you are using the internet, one of the most important aspects of being online is making sure that you are able to surf the net anonymously. There have been a lot of controversies about anonymity online in recent years, and these indicate that now, more than ever, it is important to protect yourself as you are browsing the internet.
So, how do you go about it?
There are two main approaches that people use to be anonymous online. These each have advantages and disadvantages. The first type of method that is used, is proxies, which is something that many people use. Proxies are good because they do not need to be installed, they tend to be cheap, and easy to use. Proxies can be used from the internet browser, and they do not need you to have a strong knowledge of how to use computers.
You need to be very careful when it comes to choosing a proxy, because there are a lot of different options, and some proxy providers take advantage of you rather than providing you with anonymity. If the proxy provider you are using is doing nothing more than stealing your information, then there isn't really much point using it. The good thing is that you can use reviews and online information to work out what providers are reliable before you sign up for anything.
The other type of program that you can use to surf the internet and remain anonymous is a VPN. VPNs are very effective, because they provide a significant amount of encryption on your online content, and they also block your IP address from being seen from outside forces.
Personally, I prefer using a VPN to protect yourself while you are online. VPNs are a little more expensive and they can be more complicated, bit they are also more reliable, and this makes them worth using a little bit of effort and expense.
One of the advantages of using a VPN to surf the net anonymously is that it is very difficult for websites to work out that you are using a VPN. This means that the website believes that you are living where the VPN tells it you are, rather than working out your actual location. This helps to create a whole new online identity for you which is completely different than your real identity.
