Are you frustrated when you type on the touchscreen of your Ipad? Do you wish for the tactile feel of the keys?
The Acase Keyboard ipad case provides a keyboard and the protection of a leather case for your Ipad. This review is for the Acase Keyboard for Ipad 1. After reviewing this case I hope Acase will make an updated case for Ipad 2. It is a fine case/keyboard combination at a low price.
The keyboard has bluetooth connectivity to make a quick easy connection between the keyboard and the Ipad. The bluetooth connection does even more, it will allow your Iphone or Ipod Touch to connect to your keyboard. In the board room the keyboard can also operate Ipad Keynote presentation software.
The keyboard has one piece of silicon or rubber that covers the complete keyboard so that no drink, food, or dirt can enter it and get under the keys. Unlike some keyboard case combos, the Acase keyboard functions equally well on a desk as on a lap.
To save energy the keyboard wil go to sleep when it is not in use, and wakes up with the touch of any key. The keyboard is charged through a USB cable and a charge lasts about 40 hours of usage time.
The case is made of quality Puleather and looks professional and would be readily acceptable in a business setting. The detail in the stitching and the access holes shows quality workmanship.
There are concerns about the keyboard. The keys can be pressed without a character being typed or multiple characters typed at one time. One user suggested that there is one specific spot on each key that will receive the type accurately and that holding down the key too long will cause several characters to be typed..
To conserve keyboard space there is only a left shift key. This is an inconvenience and will take time to get used to.
Also, the on/off switch on the keyboard is small and recessed which makes it hard to reach.
My final concern with the Acase Keyboard case is that the case does not protect the corners of the Ipad. Unless the corners are covered, the Ipad is still unprotected.
My opinion is that this is a good keyboard and case. The typing issue will probably vanish as the user becomes accustom to the the keyboard. However, the only thing that would hold me back from purchasing the Acase Keyboard case would be the protection for the corners of the Ipad.
Your welcome. You mention your Ipad 2, remember this Acase case is for Ipad 1 only. If you have not already done so, check it my article on the menotek on Street Articles.
