For people living in some parts of the world, using the internet is very difficult because the content that is available is significantly limited due to censorship restrictions. There are many sites that are blocked because their content is not considered to be appropriate by the government.
Furthermore, there are many restrictions on what can be uploaded online or what websites can be created. These restrictions are entirely bypassable if you make use of the right tools. Perhaps the most effective approach is change your IP address. With an IP address from any country you want, you can basically get access to any site you want, regardless of your physical location and the local laws.
Your IP address is an interesting aspect of you online life. It is both a method to get you online, and a way of tracking what you do while you are online. The way that the internet works means that it is crucial for you to have an IP address whenever you are online, yet the problem is that while you are using it, websites, governments and other groups have the potential to use it to identify you.
Even if you have something that allows you to change your IP address when you feel like it, the tool probably will only change it to another one within the same country. In fact, many "change your IP" tutorials recommend you simply turn off your computer or request a new IP from your ISP. This is not the same thing as getting an IP address from another country.
Unless you can change your IP address to one outside of the country, you will always be subject to the same lack of privacy and censorship restrictions that your currently are. The best alternative is to use a program called VPN or Virtual Private Network. This is something that you can install and run on your computer, and in fact, on most other devices, like a cellphone, tablet, or even by using a VPN router on your TV or gaming console.
The VPN changes the way that you use the internet, altering the pathways that data is sent along. It means that as long as you are connected to the VPN server, your information is being transferred through private & secure channels.
One of the best things about a VPN is that you have control over the IP address you use. So, through a VPN, so long as the server is in the country you want your IP located, you can connect and become a virtual 'netizen' of that place.
