IP Address Hiding Software That Actually Works

There are a wide range of reasons why you might want to use IP address hiding software. It can get you past firewalls at work and school. It can unblock internet censorship in places like China, Vietnam, UAE, and other places in Asia and The Middle East. It can erase your presence on shared networks on public wifi at airports, hotels, and dorms, It can also prevent online profiling and help you surf the internet anonymously. But can you be sure that it's really working properly? I mean, you can't exactly go up and ask websites, "Hey, can you see my real IP?"

Though you can use IP identifying sites like WhatsMyIP, using IP hiding software doesn't always register right with these because you're using an anonymous IP. Also, as you'll see below, some IP changing tools may give you a new IP, but they also expose your real IP at the same time. So what really works?

Open Proxies

I would just stay away from these. Sure, they're attractive because they're free and easy to use. But there are two basic problems with using these as an anonymity tool. One is that you can never be sure of the intentioned of the proxy owner. Without a privacy policy, or a even a service with a decent, longstanding reputation online, they may be gone tomorrow, along with your IP data. Stuff about your location, your email address, and other personal data is very useful to spammers and advertisers who will pay for it.

The other problem is that you can never be sure how anonymous they are. Sure, with some sites they're 'rate' them as strong or weak anonymity, but what does that really mean? And even then, can you be 100% sure that the proxy server is configured correctly? If you're using the proxy server of an independent user, chances are he's just some nerd in his basement trying to be cool.

IP Hiding Software Reviews

Proxy Services

These are a bit better, but still not ideal. Though you eliminate many of the problems with open proxies, there are still a few issues to discuss. So now you have a privacy policy, guaranteed server stability, customer support, and all of your questions about anonymity are answered. They might even use SSL encryption.

These may be software based proxies, that allow you to choose from a network of proxy servers around the world. They might also be web based proxies that provide you with a proxy browser as an automatic portal to a random proxy server.

But at the same time proxies cannot provide the level of anonymity that VPNs do, even with SSL encryption. Lack of security features like encryption upgrades, server switching, and VPN tunneling means that there are pieces missing to the puzzle. In addition to these anonymity and security problems, proxies only hide the IP of your browser - whether it be on your phone or computer. This means that VOIP calls, games, and other types of apps or software will still use your local IP, leaving you just as exposed as before.

Virtual Private Networks

VPNs confront all of the above mentioned issues. They're private and professional services with support, guarantees, and a longstanding reputation online. They're used for businesses, banks, and educational institutions and trusted with very sensitive data. They even fight internet censorship in places like China and Egypt.

128-bit to 4096-bit military grade encryption, VPN tunneling protocols, and dynamic IP addresses means you're completely anonymous online. More websites believe your virtual IP address, fewer websites are able to see through the virtual facade.

With this kind of IP hiding software you can choose your IP address, switch servers, use it on your phone and computer, and it will encrypt your browsing, streaming, downloading, and all applications and programs. It's like a virtual tunnel for all your data. I guess it's obvious that this is going to be your best choice for changing your IP and surfing anonymously online.
