Whether we want to admit it or not, everybody wants to show a little bling. Depending on a person’s interests and/or quirks, these luxury items could range from cars to jewelry to dental braces and whatnot.
Of course, laptops have their own luxury line as well, with the values of these computers increased not just because of internal premium laptop parts, but more so because of the types of materials their externals are made of.
It’s worth noting that when it comes to bling value, internal laptop components factor very little into it. After all, specs are always improving at a fast rate, so much so that after six months, what was top end when you bought it will have become at most second-stringer technology (though not necessarily obsolete). As such, the opulence of the following portable computers have very little to do with their laptop components, and more to do with what their chassis are made of.
1. The Luvaglio Laptop
If vehicles, designer clothes, and even fishing lures cross the million-dollar mark, hey, why not laptops? Luvaglio, the new computer manufacturer on the block, has made just that. A collaborative product of both technical and aesthetic designers, the Luvaglio Laptop lets buyers customize the look of their purchase.
Admittedly, the specs are nothing to brag about; and even then, only scant details have been disclosed. The laptop features a 128 GB solid state drive, a Blu-ray drive, and a 17 inch LED screen. Where the million dollar price tag shows its worth, though, is in its luxurious, customizable wood finish and encrusted jewelry. It also has a detachable diamond piece that acts both as the power-on “key” and as an identification device.
2. The Tulip E-Go Diamond Laptop
Going for $350,000, the Tulip E-Go Diamond is a lady’s accessory, mimicking the look of a handbag. Ostensibly standing for “easy going,” the “E-Go” moniker couldn’t have been more apt (even if you don’t take into account that the manufacturer’s name is also Ego). It is inlaid with solid palladium white gold plates and encrusted with 80 carats of diamonds, capped by a couple of square-cut rubies on two of its logos. It also has changeable leather skin covers and a chrome carrying handle.
As far as specs go, the E-Go has an AMD Turion processor, 2 GB of RAM, a 160 GB hard drive, and a 12.1 inch WXVGA screen. It also has voice recognition software and runs on Windows Vista Ultimate.
3. Ego for Bentley
Yes, another one from Ego; and yes, it’s in tandem with luxury car maker, Bentley. The bling is pretty much palpable going by name alone.
Our last laptop for the article goes for a cool $20,000. That much cash will get you all the specs that the E-Go’s laptop parts have to offer. What separates this from that more expensive device is a foregoing of jewelry, replaced by sleek black finish with white gold frames with the laptop’s limited edition numbering engraved on them. Its ports also feature sliding doors that call to mind limousine sunroofs. As a finisher, the Bentley logo is featured prominently on its handle. Definitely a laptop for the cultured man.
