Bioshock Infinite is a video game developed by a company called Irrational Games based out of Quincy, Massachusetts. Infinite was released on March 26th, 2013 and is available for the PS3, Xbox 360, PC, and Mac.
Infinite is an incredible game....I'd say one of my favorite games, ever!
In Bioshock Infinite, you play as the protagonist called Booker DeWitt. Booker goes to a floating city in the sky called Columbia. Bookers is sent to this city by Robert and Rosalind Lutece and is told by the Lutece's to "bring us the girl, and wipe away the debt".
So, as we can see now, Booker has some 'debt' he needs destroyed, and it looks like he has to find a girl in Columbia, and bring her to the Lutece's. That's basically the beginning of the story. I won't reveal any more major story points other than that for the remained of this article.
Anyways, the game pretty much fully takes place in Columbia. Columbia, as I said before, is a floating city above the clouds. The city is held up in the sky by 'quantum levitation' and a bunch of balloons. It's pretty humorous really, but once you get to the city and start exploring it, you are stunned and amazed.
Infinite's strongest aspects are the city itself, and the various characters you meet around the city. Columbia is absolutely beautiful--the colors are rich and luscious, and the sun bleeds through the city streets so warmly that it creates a very comfortable feeling.
Columbia, during the course of this game, is actually in the middle of a civil war. So, basically things aren't too crisp and happy as they seem. There are many conflicts around the city that you get involved in; such as plenty of shootouts and violent skirmishes that stand out among the bright, seemingly-happy sky.
This civil war takes place between several factions in Columbia. The purpose of the civil war? Control and power. Isn't that the purpose of every civil war? Yeah, pretty much.
So, Bioshock Infinite is basically an exploratory first-person shooter that feels like the previous two games in the series: Bioshock, and Bioshock 2.
Bioshock is made by the same developers as Infinite, but Bioshock 2 was made by 2K Marin. The creators of Infinite consider Infinite as taking place before the events in Bioshock.
Bioshock 2, on the other hand, takes place after the events in Bioshock. Even though Bioshock 2 was made by a different developer, it still feels very similar to Bioshock and even Bioshock Infinite.
In Bioshock and Bioshock 2, you are exploring an underwater utopian city called Rapture.
Rapture is an amazing place full of mysteries, secrets, and scary moments. My experience in Rapture will be never forgotten.
Many consider Rapture as the opposite to the floating city Columbia. I'd say that's a good way to describe it! You have a dark, moody, underwater city, then you have a bright, seemingly-happy city above the clouds!
Basically, the gist is that I love Bioshock Infinite and I wanted to express this love by typing about the game, which I have done. Infinite is such an enthralling experience that I wish everyone could experience.
