Create An Immersive Experience With Xbox One Racing Games

If you are a simulation racing game fanatic and a fan of titles like Forza Motorsport or Project Cars, then the one thing will all crave is the desire to feel more like we are racing and less like we are playing a video game. The games themselves do a good job of delivering high quality graphics and advanced handling physics on the cars, but it is still not enough. So how can we get closer to the action…

Today I have you covered with the basics. This post will address the basics of creating a simulated racing experience on your Xbox One. While doing this does come at a considerable investment of money, the outcome is the most fun you will ever have racing and make you wonder how on earth you ever played racing games with a controller.

To create an immersive racing experience you need to engage your whole body just like a real race car would. Here are the basic items you will need:

  1. Xbox One Driving Wheel with force feedback
  2. Xbox One Pedals (Gas, Brake, & Clutch)
  3. Xbox One shifter
  4. Xbox One Headphones
  5. Xbox gaming seat
  6. Sub-woofer amplifier
  7. Transducer

Overall getting these items could run you between $800 and $1300 depending on the brand and model of products you buy. Using these products though in tandem will take your Xbox racing experience up about 1000 levels. Essentially a setup like this, puts your body in a racing position, puts a wheel in your hands, a shifter at your disposal, pedals at your feet, surround sound in your ears, and vibrations in your butt. The idea is that not only are you going to be using a wheel and pedals, but you are gonna make the seat shake when you hit the rumble strips.

When you are considering buying these products there are a few things to know. You should make sure that the wheel, pedal set, and shifter are made by the same brand and are compatible with the seat you are considering. You should also now that these seats don’t come standard with vibration built in and the only way to make your set vibrate is to customize the seat which will void the warranty on it.

The effect of using a transducer in combination with a set of headphones creates a psychological sensation of immersion. When your body feels vibration and your ears hear bass it creates a sense of being engulfed in the sound. Add to that a force feedback steering wheel in your hands and a pedal set with a progressive brake mod and you have yourself an immersive racing setup.

This style of racing setup will not only deliver the most immersive racing experience on a console, but it will also reduce your lap times and never want to play racing games with a controller again. If you are looking to get a setup going I would definitely recommend getting an Xbox One driving wheel with force feedback, 900 degrees of rotation (DOR), and comes standard with a 3 pedal set.

Once you have that squared away you can look into an Xbox Racing seat and then customize it to add vibration. The best way to do it is to mount a board underneath the seat and then screw the transducers into the board. Hook the transducers up to a sub-woofer amp and then run your Xbox digital audio out right to the amps. When the low bass hits like when your drive over rumble strips, this will cause the seat to shake.

Simply wrapping your head around how to do this is the hard part. Once you know the components you need to do a little bit of research to find the products you want and then it’s just a matter of spending the money. Creating an immersive racing experience on the Xbox One console doesn’t come cheap, but if you ask me it is worth every penny!
