Choosing the renovation team can be a daunting task in itself. You really want to choose the right team for the job, but at the same time you dont want to pay a ridicoulously high amount of money for it. Lets face it. All renovation companies need to make money, some reno companies charge a bit too much, and thats fine but for people who cant afford it are the one affected.
How to choose the right Renovation company
Are they accredited with the BBB? - If a company is acredited by the Better Business Bureau it usaully means their company is actually the real deal and they mean business. To be with the BBB you have to very happy customers and have your employees do the best craftsmanship money can buy. It's totally fine if a Renovation company is not with the BBB. It just simply mean their company isn't as established as the other company.
Have a orientation before giving them the whole job - Ok so you have decided on a Ottawa kitchen renovation company, what you want to do now is let them do a spot that isn't as obvious when you walk in your home. Have them do you your basement. By them doing your basement you are just simply examining their work ethic, and craftsmanship. If you end up liking your choice and are happy with the results then have them do your house, I am pretty sure they will accept the offer.
Request some referances from the Reno company - by hearing the actual testimonials from other home owners you will be making extra measures in choosing the right people for the job. The other advantage is that you have further insight on their flaws and highlights. Lets face it, no company out there would ever tell their clients there major flaws, I wouldn't!
Check on their progress from time to time - Be sure to check if your ok with the work thats going on around your house. It's your house, speak up!
Have a licensed inspector come in - By having a licensed inspector inspect your house, you are reassuring the safety of yourself and your family. Faulty wiring, wrong building codes, and other hazards are potential risks.
Be sure to set a deadline for the contractors - By setting a time limit it should give extra motivation to the Renovation company to finish on time. They know they have to finish on time or suffer customers disaproval. Let's face it, if you never had a deadline in life then nobody would ever get anything done!
