How To Make A Grilled Quesadilla
Join 1000's of Authors at StreetArticles Today!

Turn the grill onto medium heat and give it a chance to get hot.

To make the quesadilla, start by taking an extra large flour tortilla and putting it on a baking sheet. Of course, you will not be baking the quesadilla, but the baking sheet will be a good way to transport what you produce so that you can take it to put on the grill. An extra large tortilla is good so that it is sufficiently big to put food on half and then to fold it over. I like to use ones that are twelve inches across. Of course, if you cannot find any that are that size, it is not a problem. Instead, you can plan on putting the cheese and whatever other ingredients that you choose onto the entire eight inch tortilla. Then you will place another one on top.

Okay, so you have the tortilla and you are ready to go. Now, take some shredded cheese and put it on top. This cheese can be cheddar or it can be a Mexican blend that is half cheddar and half jack. For some, plain cheese is all that they want. If that is true for you, fold it in half of place another tortilla on top and go outside to the grill, taking a pair of tongs with you. Or if you have a grill spatula, bring that instead.

Now, put the quesadilla onto the grate and allow it to cook for one or two minutes. The grill is hot, so now is not the time to water the flowers or have an extended conversation on the phone. Instead, wait by the grill for one to two minutes and flip. Then wait another one or two minutes and you are ready to be done and to eat your creation! It works well to use a pizza cutter to cut he quesadilla. Then you can eat it dipped in salsa.

Of course, it is entirely possible that you will think, “Plain cheese? That is boring! Even if it is grilled and served with salsa, it is boring!”

There are plenty of other ways to make it more flavorful and filling! You can make it simple and add some lime zest and a small amount of red pepper flakes. If you want to make it more complex, you can add some cilantro. Another good option would be half a cup of corn that is pan seared with a small amount of vegetable oil, some cumin and some lime juice.
