Microwaving Bacon

Preparing bacon in the microwave is most definitely something done by many people today. The old frying method is something of the past, mainly because people find the new method: popping some strips of bacon into the microwave for a few minutes is so much faster and easier compared to frying it up.

However, some people find it a bit tricky to get the same old crispy and flavor full result with the new technique. After reading this fully, you should pretty much pick out some great tips which will make microwaving bacon a much successful experience for you. I shall as well provide you with some brilliant and simple 'microwaving bacon' recipes :)

anyways, let’s get started!

Choose the right strips

for the perfect result all the time, I recommend doing this when buying the bacon. I know of a simple trick that pulls out the best bacon strips all the time. For the crispy result, you may want to avoid the thick bacon. Leave that for the pan, or when you are microwaving some thick strips only.

To be more specific what I mean is, having some thin strips will obviously provide you a more crispy and desirable result but you shouldn’t mix thick strips along with thin strips at the same time in the microwave simply because the thick ones won’t have a good result. If they do have a good result, you’ve overcooked the thin ones.

Adding flavor

this is precisely where many people fail when microwaving bacon. It’s actually very easy to add flavor when microwaving bacon, something that isn’t as easy when frying it. A pretty nice method I know is applying some honey on the bacon strips before getting the microwave timer running. It really works well, especially if you apply the honey evenly on both sides.

You are just as free to apply any other flavor full ingredient that you desire, just as long as it will make it all better for you :)

Use a microwave safe dish

yeah, a microwave safe dish. If this is the first you’ve heard of this, please do some more reading about it. Using a dish that isn’t microwave safe can do a lot of damage on your microwave or even in your kitchen. 911 have received calls of such cases, and trust me, they aren’t really pleasant calls.

Have your timing right

you don’t want to burn your bacon, neither do you want to under-cook it. There really isn’t a specific timing that works perfect all the time, especially since people around the world use different bacon strips in the microwave. What I recommend is watching the bacon as it cooks. It shouldn’t take that long; try checking on it after every 30seconds to see its progress.

I guess that’s it for microwaving bacon. Nevertheless, cooking tips and tricks never stop being created; microwaving bacon is just another one of those tricks. The microwaving bacon recipes aren’t that hard as well. Have a look for yourself :)

Enjoy, and please leave a comment :)

I love the picture - BLT-A is one of my favorite sandwiches! I microwave bacon quite frequently, and do it on 50%- sometimes adding a little maple syrup or fresh ground pepper towards the end of cooking, right before it gets too crispy to soak in the flavor!

I like maple flavored bacon also. I wonder if it would work adding maple syrup instead of honey. Good article. Bacon is one of my fav breakfast foods and anything that speeds up the cooking time I am all for.
