Hello Everyone! I thought a good way to start off on today's topic would be to talk about the paleo diet food list. I guess you probably want to know what kinds of foods more specifically you will be able to eat on the diet. Now as we talked about before there are some foods you want to stay away from as well. We will talk about them later.
Now let's start off with what we will be eating in our recipes. As I stated before we are looking at foods that can either be hunted, fished, and gathered. Lean meats such as sirloin steak, lean ground beef, london broil, lean pork loin and chops, as well as veal and any other lean cut of meat. Now I would recommend sticking to grass-fed beef. There any many markets carrying grass-fed beef now and you should be able to find it.The biggest reason is the omega 3's found in grass-fed beef.
Also check into bison as well and ask you butcher if the grass-fed beef and bison are totally grass-fed or are they grain fed finished. Lean poultry that is white meat and skinned removed, game meats, and so many different types of fish and shellfish are also great sources of meat in your paleo diet food list.
Fruits and vegetables are a fun part because there are so many of them and so many colors. The more colorful your plate the more nutrient packed your meal is. Try different kinds and experiment with them. Lets look at a list of encouraged fruits and vegetables:
- Grapefriut, Pear, Starfruit, Blackberries, Blueberries, Pomegranate, Cassava melon, Cherries, Cranberries, Figs, Apple, Grapes, Honeydew, Kiwi, Lemon, Lime, Rhubarb, Mango, Nectarine, Orange, Papaya, Passion fruit, Peaches, Avocado, Watermelon, Pineapple, Plums, Cantaloupe, Raspberries, Lychee, Banana, Strawberries, Tangerine, Persimmon, All other fruits
- Bell Pepper,Parsnips, Beet stalks, Beets, Artichokes, Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, Lettuce, Carrots, Cauliflower, Celery, Collards, Cucumber, Eggplant, EndiveGreen onions, Kale, Kohlrabi, Cabbage, Mushrooms, Mustard greens, Onions, Parsley, Asparagus, Peppers, Pumpkin, Radish, Rutabaga, Seaweed, Spinach, Squash, Swiss chard, Tomatillos, Tomato, Turnip greens, Turnips, and Watercress.
Look at all of the great things just in the fruits and vegetable part of the paleo diet food list. How can you ever get bored. The next section of the food list is the nuts and seed. I like this section because they can add so much flavor and many different textures to your food with just a few added. Here is a list of a few that I love: Almonds, Brazil nuts, Cashews, Chestnuts, Hazelnuts, Macadamia nuts, Pecans, Pine nuts, Pistachios (unsalted), Pumpkin seeds, Sesame seeds, Sunflower seeds, and Walnuts. Nuts and seeds are a good source of protein as well as meats.
In my next article we will be going over some foods that you should eat in moderation and others that you should avoid all together in the paleo diet food list. I hope this has been helpful for your shopping list.
Thank You!
