Eggs are usually a favorite part of our breakfast (or supper) and there are so many ways you can cook them; over easy, fried, boiled, scrambled, poached, and so on. One of my favorites is the hard boiled egg. One advantages of eating a the hard boiled eggs are that it's a good fat. They have poly-and mono-saturated fats. These fats will help with lowering your cholesterol levels and your lower your risk of a heart disease. High protein is another benefit for eating hard boiled eggs, one large egg contains 6 grams of protein. Hard boiled eggs are also low in calories; they average hard-boiled egg is about 80 calories. They also contain Vitamin A (which can help with night blindness) and Vitamin D (helps keep bones and teeth strong). So how do you make them? Great question! There are many ways you can make hard boiled eggs. The recipe below is the one I stick with because it's pretty easy to understand and doesn't' take too much time. Let's get started:
Approximate Time: 25-30 minutes
Things You'll Need:
-3 large eggs
-Egg Holder (optional)-like the one in the picture
-Medium sized sauce pan
-Large bowl
-Ice
Instructions:
1. Put eggs in the medium sized sauce pan
2. Fill pan 3/4 with water
3. Turn heat on high
4. Wait until water boils
5. Turn heat down to medium-high (you want to make sure it keeps boiling)
6. Let them boil for 7 min.
7. Once boiled for 7 min, move the pan to another burner and let it cool for 5 min.
8. During the cool off time, fill large bowl with water and add ice.
9. Once the eggs have cooled off for 5 min, move them to the ice water. Save the water from the sauce pan for later.
10. Let the eggs sit in the ice water for 5 minutes.
11. After the 5 minutes, the eggs should be ready to peel.
12. Pour the water from the sauce pan into the large bowl. You can either empty the bowl or leave the cold water in there. The main thing is that the water needs to be warm.
13. Peel the eggs under the water.
14. Repeat until you have desired egg count
15. Enjoy your delicious hard-boiled eggs!
The main thing is remembering the times, so here's a quick recap:
1) 7 minutes in boiling water
2) 5 minutes in warm water
3) 5 minutes in ice water
The longest time is waiting for the water to boil, depending on how fast your stove is, you can probably have the eggs cooked under 25 minutes. They should last for 10 days in the refrigerator. Hope this helps!
