NEW YORK CITY – Many men may not know that there is more than one way to achieve the well-endowed look they desire. Several surgeries, including a pubic lift and liposuction, penile lengthening, circumcision, scrotal web release, glanular enhancement, scrotal lift and penile widening, are considered phalloplasty or penis enlargement.

One of the procedures, penile widening, increases the circumference or girth, of the member through one of two ways. The first method for widening is using Alloderm® Matrix, a thick sheet of tissue that is placed underneath the skin of the penis to cause a 25 to 35 percent gain in width. For maximum widening, two sheets may be used. Because only minor incisions that heal quickly are made to perform the surgery, there is a downtime of only one to two days.

Penile widening can also be completed using a fat transfer technique that injects fat from the abdomen or flanks into the penis. This requires no incisions or stitches, and increases thickness of the member. The procedure can be conducted while patients are awake because it does not necessitate anesthesia, and best of all, it produces immediate results.

“The day after widening is completed patients can return to their normal activities,” said Dr. Elliot Heller, a penis enlargement surgeon who practices in NY. “In case they want to undergo an additional girth enhancement in the future, fat harvested from the first transfer can remain in cold storage.”

Some New York City penis widening patients choose to have penile lengthening executed at the same time for even more dramatic results. Fat transfer widening by itself is a cost-effective and quick method for enhancing the member.

Fat transfer penile widening is often criticized as unnatural-looking and ineffective because it can make the penis look like a round ball if performed inaccurately. A few men who have penile widening completed wind up with a penis that does not get hard when they have an erection, causing them to need microliposuction to remove the fat. An area of inflamed cells, or granulomas, can also occur, making the member appear as if there is popcorn under the skin.

Luckily, despite the claims that lumpiness results from fat grafting enhancement surgery, Heller has developed a technique that eliminates uneven results. He developed a method, the ultra-emulsification of fat grafts that causes grafted cells to have a better take and be hardier when injected into the penis. With this new approach, there is no longer any lumpiness or nodules noted.
