What is liposuction? Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery technique that allows excess fat to be removed from under the skin. The traditional method of liposuction is to use a cannula (connected to a suction pump) to be inserted into the skin which is made by small incisions. The fat is then removed as the cannula creates tiny tunnels therefore allowing the fatty tissue to be removed. Post operation the tunnels heal leading to a better shape of body.
There are many different liposuction techniques that can be used such as jet assisted liposuction, laser assisted,ultra-sound assisted and vibration assisted. One of the newest created ways of liposuction has been water jet assisted liposuction which uses high concentrated streams of water. The pressure created from the water is used to dislodge the fat making it able to be reduced.
Water jet lipo is much gentler than most of the other liposuction procedures. The way the water jet liposuction works is by the surgeon making small incisions into your body but instead of using a cannula the surgeon will use streams of high pressured water. Water jet liposuction is easier on the body and also minimizes tissue and surrounding muscle damage. Water jet liposuction has its uses such as being able to remove areas of fat that might not be able to be reached by other means of liposuction. Also the procedure is quite quick and the recovering time is also fast. The disadvantages of this type of liposuction is that it can cause swelling and soreness in the body and also potential skin damage after the procedure which is known as rippling.
Non surgical liposuction- The way this liposuction works is firstly the patient is put under local anaesthetic and once the patients body is fully numb the small incisions are created so then tunnels can be created to ensure that the fat removal is optimum after this is done the surgeon waits for 20 minutes before inserting the cannula into the tunnels. When the cannula is inside the tunnels it then vibrates so that the fat tissue is broken up making it able to be removed easier. After this is done the surgeon then analyses the symmetry of the tissue in the are to ensure its even. The benefits of Non surgical liposuction are many such as ; quick procedure, short recovery period, minimal pain, efficient and high amount of fat content can be extracted from the body.
