I love anything and everything crafty. Although, just because I love crafting, doesn't mean crafting loves me. I have been through a lot of trial and error. My very first scarf looked more like a kite than the beautiful piece of art I started out making. But lo and behold with practice and A LOT of helpful tips, I did end up making a pretty decent scarf. So, with that I am going to go over a few basic craft needs that will hopefully be a help to you in your crafting journey.

First and foremost, projects. You need decide on a project. Whether it be a sewing/crocheting craft, scrap booking or even a wood or glass craft, you need to have your project all worked out on paper or your mind. Trust me, you don't want to go into this all willy nilly without a clue what you will need from the start.

My favorite places for inspiration would definitely be Pinterest, Michaels, various craft bloggers and some of my crafty friends. Pinterest has a huge variety of craft ideas and project tutorials, so that would definitely make it easier to find whatever it is you are looking for. Also, crafty friends are always a help for the simple fact they are there for you if you are ever in need of some helpful hints.

Well, you have your project. Now what? Well, you need to make sure you have all the supplies you are going to need. I find craft stores, like Joann Fabric, Hobby Lobby and Michaels are great sources for finding all my crafting needs. I also will buy some supplies from places like Home Depot and Lowes or sometimes even just your local dept. store will have the materials you will need. All else fails, you have auction sites such as Ebay and Tophatter, which are two of my favorite sites as well. Don't forget to check around your house also, sometimes everything you need is right there under your nose.

One bit of advice for you is always make sure you have everything you need for your project before you begin. You don't want to be halfway through your project and realize you don't have the correct glue and then the project is ruined. Of course, that has never happened to me, so I'm not speaking from experience or anything. Ok well, maybe is't happened once or twice or even a few time. Who's counting though, right?

Ok, you have your project, you have ALL your supplies. It's now time to get to work on that masterpiece of yours. Don't forget if you are stuck and need some advice, find some crafty friends or surf the web for help. This is supposed to be fun, so don't fret if it doesn't come out perfect the first time around. We all make mistakes, just look at as having character. Have fun and happy crafting!!!!!
