How to Select Wrapping Tissue Paper for Your Gifts

At the mention of tissue paper, one can usually associate it as a food accessory item on the dining table that is meant to be thrown away after wiping from our mouths. However, if you are observant enough, you may find out that there are more uses of tissue papers. Given the whimsical properties, wrapping tissue paper has been used as a filler for wrapping boxes and baskets. In fact, the wide and creative usage of wrapping tissue paper had transformed into multi-million business for many companies who are in the floral and gift decor industries.

So how do we use wrapping tissue paper for our gifts? Well, before this is discussed, let’s explore how wrapping tissue paper is made. The production of wrapping tissue paper is done through a process of machine glaze. A sludge of fibre is developed over a wire form, where excess water is drained away from. Then this sheet is compressed against a cylinder to dry up. Proceeding next is the end step for drying. It is peeled from the dryer and finally wrapped up for conversion to wrapped paper. As you may observe, the process of making wrapped tissue paper can be elaborate and long, but the end result speaks for itself.

To adopt the right gift wrapping tissue paper to use for your gifts, it’s helpful to understand the different forms of wrapping tissue papers that are available on the market today. Essentially, one can find 3 main types of such wrapping papers. They are: solid color tissue paper, designer tissue papers and custom printed tissue papers.

All these papers come in different unique colors and designs with some as recycled choices. These selections are meant to add that wonderful final touch to your gift packaging. Hence, this can open up to you the chance to play with textures, colors and designs to create that kind of prestige and attractiveness in your gifts.

The following is a general list of wrapping tissue paper suggestions which may give you an idea of how to choose the right wrapping for your gifts.

  • White - this is good for gifts of a clean look theme, consisting mainly of just black and white colors. Can be used as an additional layer of protection, or external deco cover as well.
  • Kraft - this plain light brown is ideal for a natural or country look with a flowery pattern design shopping bag.
  • Colored - plain vibrant ones are fantastic in spicing up an otherwise traditional plain gift basket or shopping bag. Choosing this to complement with contrasting colored shopping bags can make them more festive and theme specific.
  • Animal print - is associated with animal gift themes, for example teddy bear or zebra. This may be suitable for children’s gifts that relate to the “zoo” or wildlife themes.
  • Polka dot - it is most commonly spotted on children's clothing, toys and furniture. Therefore, they are best used for fun and playful themes for gifts that are for young teens or children.
  • Non-woven fibre - is best for wrapping flowers. It looks and feels like fabric but contains strong polyester material. This type of tissue does not rub or bleed, and is water resistant. Plus it is reusable.
  • Waxed - resists absorbing moisture. It consists of 60% post industrial recycled material. It is ideal for gifts that contain water, hence can prevent moisture or water from leaking out of the gift container.
  • Metallic - is ideally meant for big festive occasions like Christmas and weddings. It gives a classy and contemporary appearance to your wrapped gifts.
  • Classic - this can be in the form of beautiful printed tissue paper in florentine, toile, and fleur de lis. There is no specific requirement, except that it is used to dress up your packaging for any special occasion.
  • Stripe - simply adds pizzazz to boxes or makes a simple wrap by itself.

Often, making the right choice of wrapping tissue paper comes down to your tastes and preferences. There is no right or wrong on which type of wrapping tissue paper you choose so long you see it fit in the context of your own choice and appropriateness. Happy wrapping using your favorite tissue paper!
