This is the Third article about Idaho.
My husband and I moved to Nampa ,Idaho from Las Vegas in 1998. We were coming from a city that's open all night. Las Vegas is brightly lite and glittery. You come over the mountains on a plane and you see the whole valley aglow. It's absolutely beautiful.
When we moved to Nampa Idaho, we were not sure we were going to be able to get used to the change. We came here because our children were here. but.. we would have to see how things went.
We came from a desert city that had no water to speak of, and now there is water running alone side of almost every street and road. The living was a whole lot more affordable for seniors. In Nampa they have 7th st and 7th ave. They have roads like floating feather and chicken dinner roads They don't waste much money on road signs nor do they need many street lights on the streets or highways.
Nampa is about 88,000 now but it was about 33,000 when we came here. We know our neighbors here and in Las Vegas we never did. The freeway was two lanes when we came . People were complaining about the traffic. We snickered, If they only knew.
If you break down, people will stop and help you, and you are not scared to let them. Then if you are in heavy traffic and you are waiting to get in, they will let you go first. Wow!! This is a lot to get used to. Where ever you go you will see somebody you know, on the news there are people you are fimaliar with. The mountains are about an hour away, boating is close too.
We live about 2 blocks away from our doctors and the hospital. This is very good because at our ages doctors visits are our social life.Ha. We are about fifteen miles from Boise. There is another that is really different from Las Vegas , You have to buy hard liquor from the state owned store. Only beer and wine is in the markets. There is no slot machines in the markets either.
We have the four seasons here in Odaho. The trees turn georgeous colors in the fall, and they turn off the irrigation in October. Soon the snow will fly. That was a real big thing to get used to. Learning to drive all over again. Touch the peddle like an egg. Turn in to the skid ..or is it turn out?...oh well different. It's soo beautiful!
Some of the towns are 300 people and 800 people. In Vegas, We had more people working in one hotel than are in alot of these towns so different.
We love it here and have never regretted the move.
I reckon that this is the end of this story, so see you soon?
