A Barrage Of Communication Corruption – Message Received!

What is all the Cods-wallop received by email, written on Face Book and cell phone message, all about? Corruption, gullibility, boredom, or am I missing something, am I stupid, or for that matter, just down right ignorant? Is this how the rest of the world perceives me?

Purchasing products of how to get rich using the internet, costing two thousand dollars. Buying “likes” on face book, emails telling me I have been left a million dollars from the demise of a family member living in Uganda. Short message service's of a prize won from a Nokia lottery, an amount of quarter million, sent me by an idiot that supposedly works for a company employed by Nokia.

Am I missing the point here, if I had a long-lost family member living in Uganda with that kind of money, why the hell did he not help me out when I was deep in the “do-do”? What makes some idiot think I am going to believe his obvious cheap reproduction of some lawyers letterhead? Who writes in the good old English style of writing as pronounced, spelling even my cheap spell check cannot find, forget the grammar check. Written so bad that when you ask for help from the grammar and spell check, it goes into freeze mode and constantly sends reports back to Windows.

Emailed to me because he found my email address on the web, this being proof enough to make me a long-lost relative of a jacked up family name. I have a website, with the businesses name, since opening this site I have grown family members that have died and left me cash. Are their people who believe these stories and send their bank details and pin numbers, placing themselves in positions for the withdrawal of life savings?

Would Nokia award me a small fortune for owning a nineteen forty-six brick size Samsung, a phone being carried in a belt pouch, heavy enough to insure the constant need of “pulling up your pants, or show your crack” type. Do people think I'm so stupid, that I would believe that Nokia requires the need of another person to sms me to impart my luck? That they would not contact me themselves?

This is like entering a photo competition run by Canon. Uploading a photo, taken on a Brownie Box camera in nineteen sixty-four, and them awarding you the first prize over the latest photo taken by a professional. Who’s entered his internationally award-winning photo, taken with a Canon EOS-1 DX with a Zoom lens the length of a man's arm, taken whilst hanging upside down from a hot air balloon at ten thousand feet, of the hair around a seagulls hole, blowing in the wind. Little to no chance I think!

Are people so gullible to buy these “get rich quick” schemes, bandied about on the internet and posted to one's In box? Do you believe the expounding of a person who has enriched himself, is now ready to tell you his secret to wealth? Why would he do that? When people find a way to make money they keep quiet and continue enriching themselves, not sharing it. Come on people.

Why did the manufactures of coke not tell their opposition what their formula was? They've made enough money selling their product, why are they not sharing? Bill Gates, why so quiet, tell us how to make money, you've got enough. These schemes are destroying the reputable companies reputations, people who want to sell a good product, at a low price, to make some money, from a good idea. Are people now reading the writings of Mao, that we must combine our hard-earned wealth and share it equally among the lazy?

Buying “likes” on the internet? What's that all about? Must we buy these to get a good Google rating? Is it necessary to buy likes, is it not better to earn them? I have trouble getting the neighbour to like me, forget the blonde jogger in tight clothing, can I buy these likes?. Is a first page Google search so important to some, that you must buy “likes”, or use ghost writers for blogs to make yourself look delightful to others? What the hell is it all about? Maybe I am too old to grasp the idea behind these, for the need of a better word, Internet type things. If a front page Google search required, type in the exact title of your article, wow its right at the top, even I can do that.

The shenanigans of the modern world take some getting used to. The days of hearing the latest gossip over a beer in the pub, long gone, what a pity, those stories got better and better as the visit went on and the beers got more. The stories passed on by word of mouth, that grew in stature with every re-telling, long gone. In those days if you sought a good reputation or rating, you started a rumour about yourself and got it going. Ten people down the line and you were either a knight-in-shining-armour, or the biggest idiot with the worst reputation, wanted by all.

How the new age has changed all that.

That gave me a good laugh! Glad to learn I'm not the only one getting those, Rob. Some of them are difficult to tell. A few of the banking ones looked so real that if I had an account there I would've probably called the bank worried about what's happened. So I can understand how someone who happened to match up to the facts and was either not feeling well or not familiar with technology and all the gooky-crooky-things out there might reply. I, too, wish there was more we could do to stop them. blessings, Cynthia

They are so aggravating, as my bank balance wants to believe them but my mind not. The fact that they catch so many people will keep them in business.

With the good of technology also comes some bad. It's fantastic that we are all around the world sharing ideas, but it also means that the bad guys from all around the world can reach us too. Unfortunately many are naive and fall for these scammers, which just encourages them to keep looking for more. I truly wish there was more we could do to stop them!

Got to agree with you. There are some people that are plain idiots believing all the bogus scams that run wild on the internet. You got to filter all your communications now days. I spend more time deleting all the BS that sometimes it interferes with the work I'm trying to get done. Yes, the good ole days of story tellin could be a dieing communication method. Rob, another good opinionated article.
