You have no idea how it feels
To walk around with people watching you
Pointing their fingers at you
When you are in the streets
The little chaos you will be pointed at
The enforcers will like to ask you questions
When you happen to be in chaos
In their mind they think you started it
They hope you had no rights to defense
They are right to hope so
You were given none
You have no idea how it feels
To walk around with people watching you
To have in mind that the law is against you
To know that you can die defenseless
And yet your killer is said to stood his ground
No one dares to question him because he stood his ground
Wonder if you can stand your ground
No one dares to complain
Because no one is listening
There is a cry for justice
Yet no one hears
The criers are voiceless
You have no idea how it feels
To walk around with people watching you
To be called colored
Color fades with time
Color fades when washed
You have no idea how it feels like
To wash and wash
Hopping to rid you of the color
Yet there is no change
You find out later
You are not colored
You are naturally black
And black makes every color beautiful
You have no idea how it feels
To walk around with people watching you
To know you can make a difference
And yet no one takes notice
To have a potential
And yet remains hidden
To lend a helping hand
And yet no one takes
Even in need of help
Just because they say you colored
Because they colored you
You have no idea how it feels
To walk around with people watching
To help build
And yet your efforts not recognized
To help conquer
And yet your knightship not recognized
To draw a sword to defend
And yet be seen as a threat
To shield a friend from enemy arrow
And yet not called a hero
Just because they colored you
You have no idea how it feels
To walk around with people watching you
To know that you can be part of the team
Black and white makes a pretty color
Gray
Gray is wisdom
Gray resolves without drawing a sword
We need not shed blood in her presence
Let’s give the world a touch of gray
